First place I went to (at L85) for this quest was the Verrall Delta in Twilight Highlands, killing Muddied Water Elementals. Bad thing about it, I had to kill 34 of them to get the 10 drops needed for the quest. The good thing, I picked up x6.

I hope I just had bad luck with the drops and it doesn't that long on a regular basis.

Edit: Did this quest for the first time since Cataclysm went live. Up in Mount Hyjal, just outside of the gates of Grove of Aessina, there are rock elementals that do drop this quest item. I didn't keep track, but it took probably 20-25 kills to get all 10 drops. Thankfully, it is a lot closer than Verrall Delta (mentioned above) and a lot easier for non-top level characters.

Edit 2: Later in the Cataclysm expansion, the rock elementals mentioned above have a 100% drop rate. 10 kills, 10 Elemental Goo.

Rock elementals in Mount Hyjal don't seem to be dropping the Goo at the moment

EDIT, the Rock Elementals do drop the goo, but the rock elementals disappear after you finish all the quests in the zone.

If you read the above it states:

The entirety of this quest happens in Twilight Highlands.

So it looks like only these NPC drop it, which makes it hard for lower levels trying to complete the daily. I did it on a level 80 mage with reasonable non ICC gear but it was tedious.

Killed 20 to get 10. The droprange is 3% but that is because it only drop for people that have the quest

Tanks lvl 80 does not have a problem with the lvl 83 wind elements in Twilight Highland. They hit hard (not on tanks) but does not have more than about 60 k health.

Mount Hyjal right where you port in. There is a constant flow of earth elementals with a steady spawn rate. No need to run around hunting for them, and a decent drop rate. Only took me about 5 minutes to finish the daily here.

If you have completed all of the 80-82 zone of Mount Hyjal, then try this out to complete this daily quest without much of a hassle! South of "Shrine of Goldrinn", if you remember that portal that takes you to the Firelands Forgeworks with the Dwarf mobs and the Fire Elementals, go in there for this daily quest.

Not only do the guards fight some of them for you, and they're already half dead, but the respawn rate on them is really fast so there's no down time. I found this the closest elemental batch to Orgrimmar.

This recommended spot, of course, is for people who have done ALL the quests in Hyjal. As in certain areas of the zone early on have early access to legit elemental kills left and right.

PS /// For clarification the quest says "Any Cataclysm Elemental", this does not mean any elemental in Eastern Kingdoms / Kalimdor. It means you have to kill an elemental inside of a high level Cataclysm zone.

PPS /// The fire elementals on the ground in the farthest east of Hyjal with the drakes flying overhead do not seem to drop the goo.

best way I've found to do this quest so far is to do it along with your Therazane dailies. The fungal beasts and gyreworms you kill for the dailies can drop the goo. Gorged Gyreworms seem to have the best droprate for me so far.

I'm having good luck with the Scions of Al'Akir in Uldum. They're in Orsis, just west of Ramkahen. I'm getting a drop rate of about 25%.

FYI - I was able to complete the Elemental Goo quest in around 10 minutes.
In Mt. Hyjal on the Lightening Ledge the Howling Riftdwellers drop the "Goo"!
The Dwellers seem to respawn pretty fast like right on top of the last kill. The Goo seems to drop 1 out of every 3 kills.

Aside from a caster here and there and an occasional pvp'er the quest is pretty easy. I hope this helps. Good luck all.

I did it in mt hyjal right at Nordrassil. The rock elementals respawn very quickly and they have a decent drop rate. Killed roughly 20-25 of them and got all 10 goos.

The best way to do this quest, (if you're 85) is to do it with conjunction with the Deepholme quests.

Both the rock worms, and the big Behemoths will drop them, albeit a lower drop rate. Doing this, I got 6/10 Goo, by killing only the amount I needed for the kill quests (10 and 8). After that, I went to Twilight Highlands to do the Wildhammer quests, and before going back to SW, went and killed the water elementals.

It's not the fastest to get the quest done right away. But overall, if you're doing all the dailies for the day, it is the fastest.

Too long this daily, i do with daily therazane killing fungal behemot but i need about 25-30 kill to get 10

If your lvl 83+ in my opinion the best place for this quest is in Deepholme at the Storm's Fury Wreckage place, the horde airship crash site, there is earth elemental everywhere and they spawn fast and also drop the elemental goo of course =) I killed, probably like at the most 20 and got all my "goos". Check it out and post back if you got a nice drop-rate from them.

As for Live, Scalding Rock Elemental seems to be a good mob for it, low hp, short distance ( hyjal portal ), good drop rate.

Killed about 20 mobs, got 10 drops. Easily grindable as a holy priest

BIG NEWS! I killed 10 Raging Firestorms in the Grove of A in Hyjal, and got all 10 Goos...1 off each one I killed...took all of 3 minutes and done!

I had 100% drop rateof Elemental Goo from Howling Riftdweller in Mount Hyjal coords 28,40 zone "lightning ledge".
So far its the fastest way i did this quest.

Flame Ascendant has a 100% chance to drop these as of 12/21/2010 on US.
They dont ONLY spawn in the areas listed on WoWHead, but there is a Mass amount of them at the bottem of Hyjal in "Ascendant's Rise".

Whether or not you do the dailies in conjunction with this JC quest or not, I found Deepholm the best place to do this.
After you have killed your ele'es you can port stright back to org from the earth temple, which if your like me and just hearthed back to org once you log on to grab your JC daily is quite handy!

Hey guys, I went straight to twilight highlands and killed the muddied water elementals. Drop rate was 100% for me! Not sure if it was pure luck or not but I'll take it. Also, I got a couple volatile water too.

It seems they've fixed the elemental goo drop rate recently because the last two or three times I've done it in the past week it has been 100% drop rate up from probably around a 25% drop rate (estimated). Thank you, Blizz!

North of Sulfuron Spire in The Scorched Plain are Lava Surgers that run around.
They're level 80, with about 30k hp and are pretty easy to kill.
100% drop rate on the goo, and a few volatile earth for my trouble. Easily enough running around to kill 10 fast too.

I got a 100% drop rate from the Earth Elementals in Hyjal at The Flamewake area, 2 shotted all mobs as I am lvl 85 mage, no problem here :)

I don't know if it's just because I'm level 85, but the lower level elementals did not drop the quest item. I got the goo at a 100% drop rate off of the elites in the Circle of Cinders (Hyjal).

I went to the Twilight Highlands and killed Muddied Water Elemental and Elemental Goo dropped from each one I killed...also got a fair amount of Volatile Water.

Take the portal to Mount Hyjal and the Scalding Rock Elementals just out of Nordrassil seem to have a 100% drop rate. Took me 10 kills to get 10 Goos.

Vortex Pinnacle. Possibly Grim Batol and maybe Stonecore? My jc is a healer, this has proven to be my best option to not spend an hour on this quest.

Mount Hyjal, as staded above, must be most easy. 100% drop from from those elementals,. Port in, slaughter, hs out, done.

The Elite Magma Giants surrounding Sulfuron Spire have a 100% drop rate as well. Worth going if you're wanting to fish at the flame pools and keep an eye out for Terrorpene

Tried Elementals in Deepholm first, however no luck. Read thread on Twilight Highlands and sure enough they dropped 100% from there; off any elemental. Elementals here are also shown as a blizzard quest objective if you have tracking enabled.

I did the JC quest in Deepholm and noticed that the only elementals that actually dropped the goo were the geode ones. Interestingly enough, I "moused over" the other elementals I killed and they didn't mention anything about dropping the goo and I didn't get any goo from them. The geode elementals did say they dropped the goo when I "moused over" them. I killed 10 geode elementals and got 10 goo.

If you are trying to get rep with Therazane by doing their dailies, just do this at the same time as Fear of Boring, since the Gyreworms drop the Goo.

If you aren't, the easiest way is probably to just get the portal to Hyjal and smack 10 Scalding Rock Elemental, since the portal puts you really close to them.

Best place is Hyjal!
Lot's of earth elementals with 100% drop rate. The only disadvantaged is that you don't have a portal to take you back.

After conversing with a GM, it is confirmed that the Lodestone Elementals as well as the Geodes SHOULD be dropping Elemental Goo for the JC daily, and that they are not dropping due to a bug. He said he would "Inform the Devs upstairs" so that should help out everyones' suspicions.

I had no problems with the drop rate so far. I've been doing it in Deepholm while I was doing the daily quests. It will drop from the Gyreworms and Fungal Behemoths.

it is NOT a 100% drop rate. i've just killed 8 lodestone elementals in deepholme and not one single goo.so i came on here to see if i'd got it wrong and there are certain ones that don't drop it.i'll keep on and report back.

after killing 25 of 'em i got bored.i'm going to try the gyreworms or fungal behemoths as zenai2020 reports are dropping.

Why don't people just go to Twilight Highlands through the portal and kill the water elementals right there by town at the river delta? 100% drop rate and free portal right back to Org. Sheesh.

Instead of using hours farming for the goo you can just kill Pulsing Geode at the Crimson Expanse in Deepholm. 100% droprate and no need of being "at war" with Therazane :)

i did it in hyal too, portal spawn is next to the mobs and drop rate was 100% (10/10 droped) also as epic pvp geared drood mobs was 2 shottable so fast and easy =)

The best way to make more profit with Elemental Goo, than just getting the Token and the gold is to combine it with Fear of Boring from Felsen the Enduring.

Summa sumarum: 27g & 1xIllustrious Jewelcrafter's Token

If you go into the "Crumbling Depths" you can find a lot of Gorged Gyreworm, which drop Elemental Goo and you can Mine them afterwards.
If you're lucky you can also get some Elementium and/or Obsidium Ore while doing the daylie.

Combining this with the 4.2 Firelands dailies is another easy way to get it done. The Charred Vanquishers for the quest Hostile Elements drop the Elemental Goo.

The smaller elementals have the Goo as a drop listed in wowhead, but I've not come across any drops from them yet.

Havn´t seen this daily quest for a very,very long time. Would be a catastrophe for other reasons than the goo if it´s taken out of the game.

I am doing this as a L75 prot war without too much problem. Just had to make sure I had enchants/potions/gems for hit rating.

This quest can be soloed at lvl 75 if u are ranged. I just did it at that lvl at Mt Hyjal port in area. How to do it at this lvl pull mob back petal in the inn letting guards so on tank for u.

~~The Magma Giants at the Throne of Flame on Mt. Hyjal is about the closest I have found to complete this daily. They respawn quick enough.~~ Since I posted this I have discovered a much faster way. Just port to Mt. Hyjal and kill the Rock Elementals near where you port to.

Elemental Goo

Collect 10 Elemental Goo from any Cataclysm elemental and bring them to Marith Lazuria in Orgrimmar.

Description

Instead of using the tired old method of setting gems into rings and such, I use an innovative new method. I simply glue on the gems with Vernstrom Elemental Glue! The doctor needs more elemental goo for another batch, though, and I have a whole bunch of setting to do. Can you go get me some?
