Hes there to finish the Brewfest quest that you pick up after a dark iron attack.

When you enter The Grim Guzzler, Coren is standing on the upper level near the bar where you find Plugger Spazzring (the vendor who sells Dark Iron Ale Mug). When you approach him, however, he runs into the back room where Lokhtos Darkbargainer <The Thorium Brotherhood> stands. You can simply approach him at that time to turn in the quest (if you have it) and obtain the follow-up quest.

After a while, he despawns. We were waiting on a slow party member to show up and turn in the quest. He showed up 20 minutes later and when we got back to the Grim Guzzler he was gone. We had to reset the instance and fight our way back.

Make sure when you enter Blackrock Depths that when you look to the right, there is a tunneling machine and a bunch of saboteurs around it, just to make sure your instance isn't bugged. When you do enter the bar he is on the ledge near the kegs on the upper level. When you get within 10 yards of him he runs into the back room with the thorium brotherhood quartermaster. He just kneels behind a barrel and you can go talk to him.

Go into Blackrock Depths and turn right. Enter the Tunneling Machine.

When you get there, you must go outside the room and pick up the Daily Quest. Once you get that, 1 person must talk to him. He will be come Hostile. Have a tank aggro him immediately. He hits hard but not TOO hard. He will spawn adds the whole time, some 70 Elite, most are not. This boss takes 5 minutes to kill. Everyone should have the Daily Quest. You can do this boss 5 times. Drops trinkets from all that I have seen.

After killing him 5 times on the PTR, I can contribute the following to his drop table:

1st Kill: - Equivalent to Bloodlust Brooch
2nd Kill: - A new 2.0 speed dagger... Barman Shanker reborn!
------------ - New Trinket! +45 Stamina and summons a Brewmaiden on use. The Brewmaiden has a buff aura which heals the party for 71hp/2s, and according to my party she also fights.
3rd Kill: another
4th Kill: yet another
5th Kill: - Equivalent to Gnomeregan Auto-blocker.

In the next brewfest, this guy will drop the following :
Coren's Lucky Coin (Same stats as Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600)
Dark Iron Smoking Pipe (same stats as Icon of the Silver Crescent)
Direbrew Hops (Same stats as Essence of the Martyr
Empty Mug of Direbrew(Same stats as Bloodlust Brooch)
Brightbrew Charm
Balebrew Charm

These trinkets (Exept Brightbrew Charm, and Balebrew Charm) have the same stats as the ones bought by G'eras for 41 badges, if you have both these and the 41 badge rewards, they share the cooldown.

He will also drops
Direbrew's Shanker
This dagger has the same stats as Emerald Ripper (Exept that Emerald Ripper is faster and does less damage, but they both do the same damage per second), and it looks like a broken beer bottle.

Does anyone know the details of the cooldowns of these trinkets? Toldry mentioned they are shared with their badge reward equivalents, but what exactly does this mean? I know they can't be used at the same time, but can they be used in quick succession, one after the other? Thanks in advance for any info on this.

They say right in the description that they possess a 2 minute cooldown on the trinket, and probably- like all other trinkets- have a shared cooldown so you can't unleash hell.

The Brightbrew Charm and the Balebrew Charm seem to be clones of the Commander's Badge from Netherwing Reputation. The charms are definitely worth picking up as a tank if you don't have both the Commendation of Kael'thas from heroic MgT and either of the 51 stamina Darkmoon Cards.

anybody that fighted him on the ptr can post some information about him like complexity etc. i finded ahune hard to do because of people not being aware of their surrounding and not easy to kill the adds. unless chain ligthing.

this might be a stupid question, but what do you mean five times? yet i usually never take part in WoW events cause i can spend my time doing other things, but free kick a$s trinket's make this worth doing.

'as in you can do him only five times while this event is going on or five times a day, i sure hope it's in one day because i've got three 70s that i sure would like to save 41 badge's on, and one is a shaman which i wouldn't mind grabbing trinkets for all three spec's seeing how i play each spec on and off quite often. I think this might be a little greedy to hope for all three trinkets but knowing me i wont take from another if it's their main spec', still would be really nice tho.

Shared cooldown means using one will trigger the cooldown on the other. Say you have bloodlust brooch and empty mug of direbrew. using bloodlust brooch will activate the 2 minute cooldown on the brooch *and* the 2 minute cooldown on the empty mug. So, you won't be able to use either trinket again for two minutes.

Basically you don't want to equip 2 trinkets with shared cooldowns unless you don't have a 3rd trinket with better stats than one of the shared cooldown trinkets. This does happen sometimes

Blizzard's revamped Brewfest page seems to hint that Direbrew will also drop special mounts during Brewfest if your group kills him.

Direbrew is a special boss who can be encountered for the duration of Brewfest, and drops special rewards including epic weapons, trinkets, and rare mounts.

It'd be nice if he were to drop the opposite faction's Brewfest mount for the year, but there's still been no word on if the Alliance will get a chance at the Brewfest Kodo or not yet.

According to Blizzards Site Info he will also be dropping a rare mount. Doesn't say what, just says he drops one.

I'll do it for you in a simple way so it's understandable:

5 people in group gets the daily quest, enter the instance, one of the party members complete the daily quest by talking to him which will make him aggro, kill loot then zone out and reset.

Now only one used his daily quest to spawn him which makes the other 4 still have the daily quest, you can do the same thing total of 5 times a day which means 5 tries at the boss.

Don't forget! any charecter have an instance limit which makes you zone in 5 different instances in an hour (when you do part one where you kill the boss once and then zone out, it will use 1 of your instance limit, when you kill him twice will use 2 and so on). when an hour has passed since your 1st time to reset the 1st instance you can zone again.

Except those are not from brewfest. Those are from the midsummer festival.

It is also now confirmed he will drop the same ram (gotten from tickets) from last year for alliance. And a Kodo for Horde. Sadly, horde can no longer get the ram and alliance will not be able to get the Kodo =/

The ram DOES drop.

You can do it more than 5 times a day. We did it 5 times, then started to switch ppl, and ported them into the instance, so they could aggro the boss. :)

We were waiting on a slow party member to show up and turn in the quest. He showed up 20 minutes later and when we got back to the Grim Guzzler he was gone. We had to reset the instance and fight our way back.

You don't need to do this, just inside the instance, to your right, you can port right into the grim guzzler.
Coolest port ever btw.

If you wipe; the person who started the event, cannot start it again; so be careful.
A Tank and a Healer and one DD should be enough to kill him.

If you are looking to farm this boss:

#1 Bring a warlock, with a few shards.
#2 Activate the boss, Drain Soul, kill him. Repeat 5x times (he respawns after 5 min or less)
#3 Replace one in the group with a fresh lvl70, summon in, kill boss, Drain Soul. Repeat indefinately.

MOUNTS FOR ALL :D

(We killed like 30 I think before the warlock ran out of shards due to not bringing enough and getting stunned during Drain Soul)

After more discussion on the matter, we have hotfixed Coren Direbrew to drop the Brewfest Kodo and the Brewfest Ram for both Alliance and Horde. You now have an equal chance to get both mounts regardless of your faction!

Thank you to those who've given constructive feedback on this both during PTR testing and over the past couple days, and I hope you enjoy Brewfest!

Started the day seeking for the mount at the vendor. After finding out that it's now dropped my Coren Direbrew I can now confirm a few pieces of information!

Firstly, Coren has been buffed to a level 73. It's suggested you take a few friends. ;) He has what *seems* to be a fairly decent drop-chance for the mount but of course this could be purely random luck as my group (at the time of writing) got one in our fifth try.

Secondly, he respawns pretty quickly after he's killed, no more than 20 seconds, so there's no need to go out and reset, Blizzard's being rather nice for you. :P

So, you want him dead, eh? Well tactics it is!

Based on MobInfo stats only:

~180k health
3 adds at start, ~7k health, easy to kill, nothing special at all
adds randomly spawn by drilling in (exactly like you did to get to Coren), very low health on the Minions (~7k) but hit for 600 and a pain if your healer picks up too many. The act of drilling in throws you up in the air a tiny bit if you're too close and while not dealing damage, interrupts spell casting.
70 elite adds also spawn in the form of Coren's daughters, with ~28k health and are immune to CC. They do a weak ranged attack with a debuff for 8 seconds that stuns you if you are hit again.
All adds despawn on Coren's death

The boss himself has a couple of simple abilities. He has a move called Direbrew's Disarm which is a whirlwind and knockdown for 4.5k damage. I'm unsure of the exact mechanic, however, as I personally was not disarmed on my Hunter (perhaps someone can clarify).
He also randomly targets a party member and throws a comically oversized tankard on your head, stunning you for 6 seconds.

I reckon that's pretty much it for the fight, it's a fairly simple and enjoyable fight, from my own opinion. For those who were at BRM back pre-TBC, enjoy the feeling of nostalgia and especially those on a PvP server as you can enjoy some of the extra special ganking at this time of year. :)

Can someone who has already done this provide more information about it?

On my server the event has yet to occur, but is it possible to get the mount(s) now that they've hotfixed him?

If not, would I have to wait to go do some quest or something?

Edit: I realize this is my first post, and I'm still looking for more information. Once I get it I'll delete my useless post.

Okay, here's how it goes:

Starts by accepting the Save Brewfest! quest from Darna Honeybock in Kharanos (sorry, I know about the Alliance side only), which will ask you to talk to an undercover spy inside BRD.
Once inside BRD you click on a pile of booklike objects right by entrance to be teleported to Coren's room where you'll find the spy in question, Coren Direbrew and a few other dwarves (neutral). You finish the quest by addressing the spy, only one person does that per group.
This will trigger another quest that will require you to address Coren, then of course he attacks you.
(of course you can just skip all that and go directly to BRD to take the daily if you're not into following lore).

He's level 75-80 boss, pretty easy tank and spank fight, a few elite adds will pop but that's about it.

His loot table:
1st time you fight him, he will drop Direbrew's Dire Brew which you can turn into Ipfelkofer Ironkeg for 40 Brewfest Prize Tokens, then..

A) Guaranteed to drop one of these epic trinkets:
-Ancient Pickled Egg.
-Brawler's Souvenir.
-Mithril Pocketwatch.
-Coren's Chromium Coaster.
-Bitter Balebrew Charm.
-Bubbling Brightbrew Charm.

B) Lucky Groups have a slight chance to finding:
-Direbrew's Shanker 2.0.
-Direbrew's Remote.
-Tankard O' Terror.

C) Very Lucky groups have a slighter chance to finding:
-Swift Brewfest Ram.
-Great Brewfest Kodo.

Once you trigger the quest to kill Coren, that counts as a daily. But you can still go as many times as you want after that with other people as long as there's someone in group that hasn't done the daily yet. So it's a good thing to check the quest log to see if everybody in your group has taken (is able to take) the daily quest prior to starting in order to fight him 5 times, 5 chances to getting the mount/epic weapon/remote. Good luck all. :D

Wrong. I have both trinkets now, when I use the mug I get a CD on the brooch for the duration of my mug's buff. The Hops and the Essence of the Martyr can be used at the same time. (getting both buffs)

So let me get this straight (cause I'm a bit lost) everyone in your group picks up the quest from Flynn right, we all go to BRD, and teleport to Coren's room, ONE of us talks to the spy, and they complete their quest and then we kill Coren for epic loots, and repeat each person addressing said spy to complete their daily for it? I assume he re spawns, or does one have to exit the instance?

To get to the Grim Guzzler quickly and easily, look to the right just when you enter the instance. There will be 3 level 70 dwarfs hanging around the tunneler controls. kill the dwarfs and operate the controls (they look a little like a pile of books as mentioned previously). This will cause a tunneler to appear that will transport you straight to the Grim Guzzler pub. Talk to the Brewfest spy and then off to see Mr. Direbrew for a short chat and a punch up! Just like your average Friday night in any town in the U.K.

My friend and I were going to down this guy for the trinkets (and the chance at a cool mount), but we're confused about what we have to do. We haven't done any Brewfest quests or things yet, are there pre-reqs to getting that daily you guys were mentioning that you need to down this guy? Where do we pick the daily up from?

Blizzard change this so you have to kill Coren Direbrewa the starting quest is Kharanos near ironforge then gotta go in blackrock spire
he is a massive pain plus the adds keep on coming its impossble to kill..
unless you have a aswome group.. meaning they doing the high end dugeons...
now tell me why anyone at high end pve would want a crappy epics or a mount?
my bro guild did it and loled at what droped and left..........plust the worst thing is the ram and kodo drop rate its so low....and your have to fight who gets its...omg unfair..rather aim for raptor mount, in ZG..

'Healing' trinkes do not currently share a cooldown. This means you can pop a 'healing' trinket and promptly hit a spelldamage one for a hard punch.

If you happen to get hit by Direbrew's Disarm, it will do around 4k on leather, knock you down and disarm you.

You must be in melee range for this to happen so if you're ranged you have no problem. If you're melee do not worry! Coren doesn't just instantly hit you with Direbrew's Disarm but instead casts the ability. Melee DPS will have more than enough time to get out of his range during the cast. Hope this helped. We killed Coren like 10 mins before dailies reset and my daily dropped the Ram and 2 epics, then we waited until 10 mins later for dailies to reset and on my daily again the Kodo dropped. So as of this time he drops both Ram and Kodo mounts. Some Ret paladin won both. My group calls me the designated Mount Dropper lol, he drops both the Kodo and the Ram for both factions, just a matter of luck I guess.

Ok, small farm team today went in, killed him approx 25 times (no one had wowhead looter running :( )

He does drop all the 41 badges trinkets, and...best of all....

He does drop both specialty mounts for either faction.

We are alliance and my friend got the ram, and another got the kodo, along with another item called direbrew's remote, which allows someone to port their entire team directly to the bar for the fight.

We achieved that many kills by swapping out our Dpsers to get more people in, and by doing it right before the dailies reset.

So, it is confirmed he DOES drop both mounts, along with the one hour cooldown "port" (it's a mole machine like the dark irons use)

also, you DO NOT need to clear the instance to kill him, when you enter, you can turn right and use the mole machine controls to be ported to him.

The adds are nothing to really worry about, an average tank can pick them up with a rotation of thunderclap/demoralizing and cleave.

He does do a whirlwind attack that hits very hard and stuns, with a chance to disarm, just stay away when he does it. (he charges it up, melee has time to get out)

The adds will also spawn by drilling in, punts people into the air, but nothing really to worry about.

Overall, he is the easiest seasonal boss to date, and drops some of the coolest loot, i wish you luck in getting the mounts, my farm team will continue throughout the event so maybe i can get one too :).

To give you an idea about drop chances (I know its based on luck):

I did 32 kills of him since last night, and we only had the ram drop once. No kodo yet. :)

and with the 42th kill we got a kodo. :)

Basic Tactic:

CAN be 3-manned, 4 is infinitely easier though - tank, healer, 2xdps (an AOE dps is good).
Tank+nuke adds and drink beer when it gets thrown to you - ignore Ilisa, shes pretty much harmless if you dirnk the beer. However, around 35% URSULA will spawn, who has a 6 second disorient Barrel Throw on her top aggro. Get your 4th, weakest dps to attack her to get aggro and take the barrels, and when they have decent aggro go back to Direbrew. The last 20% or so is a DPS race, NUKE HIM DOWN, and good luck!

jus wanted to add, u DONT have to fight to the grim guzzler. when u zone into BRD, turn right. there should be 3 mobs standing over some boxxes. kill them, click on the boxxes, an it takes u straight to coren. i wont spoil it for the ones who didnt know this, but its kewl. 2nd, you DONT have to zone out to respawn coren. after his death, give him a min or 2 an youll be shakin a stick at his head once again. hope this helps

ok, jus noticed someone ask. to get the daily to kill coren, go to org for horde, i think IF for ally, not sure on ally tho. anywayz, go outside front of org, get the 2 quests welcome to brewfest (first tent along road, beside the ram event), 2nd quest run south along road an when u enter the ravine, get the first quest u come to. at this point, go to BRD, zone in, take tunneler on the right (youll have to fight 3 non elite 70 dwarfs) str8 to coren. walk jus outside that room an look left. talk to the spy, then go insult coren an pray he drops a mount (or 2, if yer a luck sunuvagun lawlz)

As of today (sept 20, 2008) He drops the Kodo for the alliance, Im assuming he also drops the ram for horde. Have only seen the kodo drop myself though(im alliance) Dont know if this is a bug or not, sure hoping not, i plan on farming the crap out of him till i get the kodo.

Techniques for defeating this NPC:

As mentioned above, he will spawn multiple level 70 (normal) adds on the group as the fight progresses. Our group found it very useful to have a dedicated add-buster (in our case a mage) to handle these, while the rest primarily focused on Direbrew.

Occasionally, he will summon his girlfriend(?), Ilsa. Ilse is a level 70 elite, who I didn't get to see do a lot that was particularly special, but keep in mind that I was DPS, so I wasn't the one getting hit. Corrections here are quite welcome. Hoqwever, killing her just means that she will be respawned later, so if you have a tank who can take the hits, it is better to simply tank her and continue the DPS on Direbrew, himself.

Direbrew will occasionally use an attack known as 'Direbrew's Disarm'. This can do over 5000 damage on mail. It is imperitive, therefore, that people don't catch aggro and move out when this attack is begun. He will also occasionally summon some 'spirit adds' who will throw brews at the enemy, doing damage, occasionally stunning, and tossing a free brew into your inventory. Yum!

Now and again, the tunneling machine will pop out of the ground in the fight, causing no damage but flinging you into the air and interrupting casting. Because of this, people may want to keep an eye on where they're standing. In particular casters.

Finally, though definitely not the least, Direbrew will occasionally hurl an aggro-dampening effect on the tank which will stun him for several moments, rather like a scattershot. He will then go for the next person on the aggro-meter until the tank recovers. This can be deadly for mages and healers, since his 'Disarm' attack can one-hit them. It is not difficult for the tank to get aggro back after the stun has worn off, but for those five to ten seconds (ish) your clothies are very exposed; prepare to protect them!

All in all, it's a basic tank n' spank with some adds, I find. Just keep your add-killer on the adds, keep your tank up (he doesn't hit terribly hard except for the special), watch the beer-flingers, and have a little fun!

Confirmed that the drops for Alliance.

This mob is summoned similarly to the Headless Horseman, but you don't need to reset the instnace. He will simply respawn a short time after he's killed. However, doing the quest to make him attack you is a daily, so a group can only kill him up to five times, if each group member hasn't done the daily already.

Out of the fives times I did it, the AP trinket dropped three times, the kodo dropped once, and the healing trinket once. And I'm not sure what other trinket dropped. =P Also, the boss drops an item that starts a quest, which can be turned in for Brewfest tokens.

Yesterday I got the ram on my 3rd run. Today, I've done him about 15 times and the ram has only dropped once. No Kodo yet.

Is this doable as a daily? I did it last night before the dailies reset, and logged on again today to do it again but wasn't able to find the quest giver in Kharanos. I was able, however to do my other brewfest dailies. Do I just go back to BRD?

Also, for what it's worth I was in a group that 4 manned it, with me (a rogue) tanking, while being healed by a smite priest and a resto shaman.

I can't see why anyone would join a group with 4 people that have already done the quest. If you have a fresh group, you can do it five times.

This can indeed be done several times per day.

I am somewhere around 40 kills since last night when Brewfest went live.

So far, I've seen the teleporting item drop twice, and the Brewfest ram twice.

Unlucky as I am, lost roll on all four occations.

I also saw someone writing in /1 that they had got a kodo(horde)

The Direbrew's Remote (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37863) can be used to transport you and group member to the bar in BRD. It has an hour cooldown. Also very handy for the concert there :)

For those of you wondering, yes he can drop both mounts at the same time. I was running it earlier today and after approximately twenty runs, I had both mounts drop off the same kill. I lost on both of them but I submitted a screenshot of it happening.

Compiled Guide to Coren Direbrew

Coren Direbrew is leading the Dark Iron Dwarves into attacking brewfest. He and his race of dwarves, the Dark Irons, have been banished from Brewfest for their past problems, such as the summoning of Ragnaros, kiddnapping of the King of Ironforge's Daughter and then impregnating her, you know, small stuff. Coren sees this as unfair as Brewfest has been a long held Dwarven Tradition.

Coren can be found deep within Blackrock Depths in the storage room of the Grim Guzzler. To access him quickly one simply takes an immediate right after entering the instance. There they will find 3 non elites and many drill controls. Kill the easy mobs and activate the controls. A Dark Iron drilling machine will take you straight into the Grim guzzler's back room.

After taking the new fangled drill portal step right outside the room you were drilled into and a Brewfest Spy should be offering you a daily quest. Take it but do not complete it until your entire group is there. To past the time go speak to the Dark Iron Brewer for a bit of fun and a nifty brew that turns you into a dwarf.

After your group has made the run-flight-drill to the boss, the summoning member simply speaks with him and completes their quest. He will yell "You will pay for such an insult, (class)." And then the brawl begins!

He's a simple tank and spank with a few niches. The first niche, whatever a niche is, is that drill machines pop up on random party members causing a knockback but no damage. From these drill machines spring non elite Direbrew Minions that deal about 700 damage to cloth and have maybe 7k hp. Every 25% of his heal or so an elite daughter of his will spawn and deal minimal damage to one person every 4 seconds or so. (75 damage beermugs) Only trick to the daughters is they might throw you a drink, if you dont drink it you will be stunned. He also does a cast time whirlwind called Direbrew's Disarm, simply move away from him as he finishes casting it.

He is oddly voundrable to immobilization effects such as frostbite and frost nova but not to slowing effects like frostbolt. He is also weak to disarm. He is considered a level 73 so he can crush but not for very much. When he dies he drops a trinket and maybe an additional reward.

100% Drop Rate Items, he will always drop one of these:
Empty Mug of Direbrew equal to Bloodlust Brooch
Direbrew Hops equal to Essense of the Martyr
Coren's Lucky Coin equal to Gnomeregan Auto Blocker
Dark Iron Smoking Pipe equal to Icon of the Silver Crescent
Balebrew Charm summons a Dark Iron Beermaiden that attacks hostile enemies
Brightbrew Charm summons a angelic Dwarf that grants an effect equal to a Healing Steam Totem for your party.

<100% Drop Rate Items, he might drop one of these in addition to the above items:
Direbrew's Shanker Semi equal to Emerald Ripper
Direbrew's Remote Summons a Drilling Machine that works like a mage portal except it works in BG's
Swift Brewfest Ram A light brown epic Dwarf Ram
Swift Brewfest Kodo A dark brown kodo that has tankards instead of drums.

Dont worry if you dont get a mount your first try, I ran it maybe 12 times friday morning and saw all but the remote drop.

Pretty chaotic encounter, but quite easy with a t6 tank :)

Facts:
-He can be done once per character in the instance. You can also summon in new people. We did it 11 times last night using alts.
-As of now, the badge-clone trinkets do not share any kind of common CD. You can use them with your badge trinkets, or any other trinkets like http://www.wowhead.com/?item=33828 . As this is most likely a bug, it probably be fixed very soon.
-The two women called "Ilsa Direbrew" and "Ursula Direbrew" have significantly less HP than the boss (50 000 give or take), can quickly be killed, but respawn as good as instantly.
-Just like the other seasonal epics, these cannot be sharded or sold.
-To get directly to the bar, kill the three mobs just right after you entered the instance, and use the Mole Devices.

The Fight:
Coren himself doesn't hit hard on plate, tank healing should not be an issue in this fight. He has two abilities: The drill and a Whirlwind.
Every 10 seconds or so, a drill will pop up under a random party member, dealing quite insignificant damage, but it knocks you back a few yards and spawns a non-elite add that hits for ~500 on mail. The knockback effect can be avoided by moving away as soon as you see rocks piling up on the ground beneath or close to you. The adds will prove a problem later in the fight if not killed, as the tank has a chance of being blinded. (Will get back to that later)

At a certain point, Ilsa Direbrew will spawn. She has a very weak ranged attack, tossing mugs at people that hit on mail for about 100 damage, but she also has a potentially dangerous spell where she tosses a slightly bigger mug at a party member, spawning an alcoholic beverage in their inventory.
You get 10 seconds to drink the beverage before she tosses you another one, at which point you will be stunned for 2 seconds if you drank the beer and 5 seconds if you didn't.

Later, Ursula Direbrew will spawn, with about the same HP as Ilsa(~50k) This one is the real party killer, as she has an ability called "Canned" or something similar, which blinds the player for 10 seconds, tossing a huge can on the target's head. We could not seem to come up with a way of aggroing her, and the tank kept getting canned causing all the mobs including the boss to go for the next threat target. If there is a way to avoid this, please post it, as it is the major (only) problematic factor of the fight.

The strategy we used, which seemed to work just fine, is to just go all-out on the boss, ignoring adds. Stay clear of the drills and healer run to the tank in between whirlwinds for some AoE tauntage if you're getting slammed too hard by adds. This tactic should work just fine with a fairly well geared healer/tank.

Killing adds is another way of doing it, to reduce the devastating impact that a can on the tank's head can have. They're non-elites with pretty low HP (talking normal lvl70 mob). Of course, if one were to find a way of aggroing Ursula, that shouldn't be much of a problem.

The drop rate isn't actually that bad.

I'll say this: if you've seen a mount one times in fifty, you've actually had bad luck compared to what the average is.

The chance of getting a mount is five times greater than that of getting a Scorched Stone in Heroic Ahune, which was bumped up from Normal.

Unfortunately for me, I have done it about 40 times and have yet to see either mount or the remote.

My party and I just did this today. He is very easy if you do it right. Im a Prot warrior, had a resto shammy, ret pally, mage (pyro I think) and an elemental Shammy. The ret pally consecrated and picked up the adds, healer watched party and mage AOEed when needed for the adds. Easy fight like this. The magic trinket dropped twice, the tank one once, and the mount dropped twice!

(Horde instructions for getting pre-quests; according to Miyari's Post it's NOT necessary to complete these to get the daily, Insult Coren Direbrew)

Have each party member complete "Welcome to Brewfest!" from Tapper Swindlekeg outside Orgrimmar.
Grab "Save Brewfest" from Slurpo Fizzykeg, on the road south towards Razor Hill. The quest is shareable if other members have completed "Welcome to Brewfest!" Turn it in to the Brewfest Spy in the Grim Guzzler, BRD.
Pick up the daily, Insult Coren Direbrew, from the Brewfest Spy. Turning this quest in to Coren aggros him and completes the daily. You only get one chance to kill him per turn-in; make sure 2 party members don't turn in at the same time, as it will waste one of your tries at killing him.

Though this boss is a pushover for well-geared people, those needing his trinkets might have a bit harder time.

Here's a brief description of the fight:
1. He'll start with 3 non-elite adds. Tank should stay on Coren and have a designated DPS take out the adds. Non-elite adds will continue to spawn throughout the fight via tunnel-borer machines that pop up out of the ground. These are easy to kill quickly.
2. At about 66% and 33% health he'll summon an elite barmaid (Ilsa and Ursula Direbrew). DPS should ignore them (alternate strategy is to burn them down immediately, but not necessary unless your DPS/healers are very squishy). The tank should apply some aggro to keep them off the healer. They despawn (as well as all other adds) when Coren dies.
3. Coren does a whirlwind attack that hits players in melee range. Coren will also disarm the tank and everyone in melee range; there's a long cast bar preceding this. Watch for the drop in threat generation.
4. The elite barmaids throw out beers that land in your inventory, apparently at random targets. If you don't drink the beer ASAP, and they throw a second one at you, you'll get stunned for about 5 seconds.
5. Barmaids will randomly "Keg" party members. It seems this usually happens to the tank first; the keg lands on your head and CC's you for about 6 seconds. This is the hardest part of the fight if not controlled properly, as Coren will go after whoever is 2nd on the threat list. You can sometimes get chain-Kegged at maddeningly short intervals.

The loot table doesn't include Direbrew's remote, which can be used anywhere every hour to summon a drill that takes anyone in your party who clicks on it into the grim guzzler right in front of Coren Direbrew.

killed him ~200 times today, drops were:
4 swift brewfest rams
1 great brewfest kodo
6 direbrew's remotes
3 direbrew's shankers
and ~10-12 of each bale/brightbrew charms

i think we were unlucky on mounts overall, and especially on the kodos.

every time he drops one of the above(excluding the charms) he also drops one of four trinkets which match exactly the trinkets that drop from badges, but have a pretty cool effect when used, i.e. the AP trinket turns you red for a second and does a whirlwind and the spell damage trinket makes you spew green gas like you're exhaling or vomitting, or w/e lol

You dont have to fight our way to him. When you entre the intans you see 3-4 lvl 70 iron dwarf on your right side. Kil them and use the machine you can see... Saves alot time... ^^

The elite adds throw beer into your inventory, if you get 2 in your inventory you get keged, if you have no room in your inventory, you will get stuned for ~3 secs. you can drink this beer, and you will mostlikely only get one more.... the barmaids throw them, but not as often as you might think, the reason you think it starts at 20% is because it takes awhile for them to throw them at all the people. Also they seem to have no real time on it, its very ramdom when they throw them, and they despawn out of your inventory in 30 secs (not sure if thats the acctual number, im just estimating here). ive had my entire group keged befoer all at once, and ive had none of them keged before..... and me being tank, I dont get kegged as often as you would think...On another note, his "whirlwind disarm" disarms you for only a few seconds longer then it stuns you.... idk what the point is of the disarm after that. Also the tank and melee can simply BACKUP after hes casted it for 2 seconds (5-6 second cast) and you will not get hit. not to mention its extreamley easy to dodge. Coren also dodges alot, id say around 35% of the time, making even harder to build up threat. The best strat. i have for you in kill the forst adds that are with him, tank on coren all the time, once the room is clear of adds for even a second just take him down. If you have a lock/priest fear them mage can freeze them. the barmaids do so little damage at ranged just ignore them. if you dont have any fear casting guys, or CC the best thng i can say is treat it just like illhoof, with adds that come in small streams instead of all at once. This is a very easy fight people. Also to note, if you fail..... YOU HAVE LOST THAT CHANCE.... so DONT F UP....

so far ive done this 23 times. ive only had the ram mount drop once, the kodo never. i do have the ram mount from last year. ive had all but that dagger drop, and the trinkets have no shared c/d's which is halarious when you summon the good/evil barmaids with the trinkets.

ive now done this with 4 locks and a healer..... totaly insane... 4 seeds, the aggro table was jumping everywhere, we just stood at the edges of the room and bounced the adds back and forth..... BEST FIGHT EVER

I would just like to say i farmed coren for 4 hours yesterday and killed him about 70 times and we didnt see a single mount drop. I dont know if it was bad luck or the drop rate is really low.

~EDIT: On kill # 80 (my daily quest i will add) we had a ram drop and i won it. Still looking for kodo though i feel i have best luck with my dailies (got pipe for my lock 1st day, shanker 2nd day, ram 3rd day, maybe kodo next time?). Anywho it is possible to farm with a lock as every1 knows, but my group does it ethically: since we can 4 man kill him very easily we summon in people who are not yet 70 and try to get them their trinkets, better then just stealing some 70s quest. (*Rotate out one of your 3 dpser's DO NOT try to switch tank or healer every time especialy if they are not 70)

~4 man guide:
-Tank: Just tanks Coren (Duh!) **Omen seriously recommended if u don't have it go kill urself and every clothie in your party, Proper spec is recomended for 4 mans and long haul farming,
-DPS: I find it best to assign one person to take care of all the adds, hunters and druids do the jobs well with the better armor, but anyone can do it. The other 1 or 2 (Alt non-70, but they can and should stay as far back as possible) dpsers should focus on just Coren. At all times ignore his daughters they are a waste of time to kill and only do about 160 damage on clothies, and i never find their stunn effect to be much of a problem). **Some people disagree and say every1 should go on just coren, im sorry these people are morons and unless you have 5 mid-well geared 70s there is always a chance to wipe, the healer gets stunned and adds pile on. it only saves u about 30 seconds anyway, and i have never wiped using the above method.
-Healer: Those with hots or totems are preferred b/c of all the stun effects that happen. The only time i wipe when every1 is working properly is the small chance a healer gets stunned right when the adds pile on a clothie (it happens, not aggro mis management). But generally any healer will work. Also stay close to/ infront of the dps taking the adds to make it easier of them to keep an eye on you especialy if you are a clothie. **Again proper spec for farming to reduce risk of wipes.

This is not the only way to kill coren just the most effecient way, yes you can quite easily kill him with 5 unpropperly specced people, but any 70 with any gear can use my method in group of 4 and easily surpass 60-70 kills in 4 hours (ive done it), with minimal wipes. Just remember if you wipe you lose the kill and look like a moron!

Im not sure about this but are the drop rates for the mounts extremely high?
becuase i did it today for the very first time and Got both the Kodo and the Ram on the very first kill. And every1 rolled need on both so it wasnt like they just gave them to me.
So im just wondering if that normally happens or was i just lucky?

Not only can both mounts drop for either faction, they can both drop at the same time! This happened to a party of my (lucky) guildmates. They also had one of the trinkets drop.

To my understanding, the Remote, the Mounts, and everything else are on seperate loot tables. So, you always have a shot at the trinkets/dagger, but you also have a 25%-4% shot at both mounts and a x% shot at the Remote every try. You can luck out and get three items on one loot, but if you see a Mount or a Remote you will still see a Purple every time.

Also, the event is easy enough that you can bring random alts in in place of DPS that aren't saved for the day and continue trying for the mounts. I could accept the quest and aggro Direbrew on my 68 alt and it was yellow, so one could assume alts as low as 62 could start the quest (although the lower they are the harder the event will be, of course.)

How To Farm the Brewfest mounts

Requires:
- A party of no more then 4: Warlock, Tank, healer, & Add control
- Warlock should come with at least 10 soulshards in his inventory for summons

Objective:
Your group will basically be set out to gear lowbies for welfare epics, while farming for the mounts.

How to Execute:
- Assign the most trusted in the group with Master Looter
- Type /who 65-69 to see who is available out there
- Ask them if they would like a shot at free loot with a summoning ready
- Once summoned spam a macro that states the terms and conditions, that anything is theirs but the mount because your group is farming for it
- Mark quest giver with Star and Boss with Skull and make a macro to tell them how to start the fight
- The Warlock should take a Soul shard from Coren from every fight so that he never runs out
- Kill the boss, remove the lowbie from group after he gets his loot, tell him thank you for coming, wash and repeat.

Personal Thoughts:
Once everyone knows the fight it goes fast enough, and lowbies are usually thrilled for the invite even when they don't receive the mount. In the past 3 days of the festival I have killed Coren over 80 times, seen Kodo drop on 4 occasions, and the Ram once and now have both of them.

moron dvalin mounts don't only drop from this guy, you can buy a ram and a kodo last year the horde could get the kodo and ram. Fyi I would def ride kodo over my amani war bear, it has goldish armor all over it and its skin isn't as dull as other kodos

It was hard at first but I got it now!

For those of you who are having problems killing him do this.

get 1 tank (any class that can) and a warrior.

get a mage, or a high dps class that focuses on him.

and then heals and another dps.

What you do is have the mage (or dps) focus fire on him,
the tank stands and tanks him.
and the other warrior does nothing but go around and kills adds.
the adds will eat up the casters and if you dont have a pally tank
its gonna be pretty hard to A.O.E tank that guy on a warrior.

the other classes take out him and the warrior focuses on picking up
and killing the adds.

(IMPORTANT)
when the add that pops up that throws the mugs, and barrels.
The warrior must get on it or the group may die.

and when you get some free time the warrior hits the boss.

you can prolly do this add thing with other classes but we try'd it with a rogue and he died, (not enough armor) so idk.

and other then that dont let him whirlwind you and tank tanks the boss.

We try'd it 6 times and killed him every time when (I was on my warrior) killing adds.

You can kill him multiple times a day... even 100. You just need players that have the quest.
But with 1 grp you can only do it 5 times.

Just do it 5 times with grp (along with your quest), join another grp and do it 4 times, and join another and do it 4 times etc.

But its highly unlikely that you will be taken if you dont have the quest.

You can surely do him many many more times than 5. I did him 8 times last night with 2 grps.

I've done this fight about 12 times, and in each I've been 'Kegged' (barrel on the head) in nearly every fight. Throughout the fights, I watched my inventory. Each time I got an ale Mug thrown into my bags, I drank it. That did _not_ stop me from getting 'Kegged/Barreled'. It _did_ stop me from getting stunned.

So, in summary:
1 Ale Mug - No problem
2 Ale Mugs - Stunned for 3s (or so)
Barreled regardless of # of mugs.

The only solution I've seen is to kill Ursula Direbrew to stop the barrels entirely.

Do we have enough data on the drop rates by now? I have run BRD to kill this guy 5 times a day with 2 alts, and so far Coren's Lucky Coin (the shield) drops 40% of the time: I have seen it drop 2 out of 5 times every day.

I find that quite lame from Blizzard to put such a high drop rate on an item only 3 classes can use, whereas the other trinkets are compatible with many more classes, and everybody wants the charms and mounts. And what sucks is we usually end-up deleting them all the time since every shield class has one by now and they cannot be sold or DE'd.

What drop rates have you seen so far? What seems to be the drop % on the charms and mounts? I have run this about 25 times so far and I've seen 3 charms and no mounts drop yet.

If you have the remote , You can talk to the goblin by the L70ETC band set up and start them playing. Just toss a /cheer at any of the band members, and boom... a free 5 minute 10% buff to all your stats.

Finally, a use for that buff.

Can be done without a tank with the right group setup.

We had:
Paladin (heals)
Warlock
Rogue
Hunter
Mage (myself)

Hunter and Warlock kept their pets on Coren while the Paladin constantly healed whichever pet had aggro. Out of the five rounds we only lost aggro once, but the Warlock was resilient enough to survive it. Rogue worked on adds, Hunter, Warlock and Mage burned down Coren. Completed five times in our group with no wipes.

1 Pipe
1 Empty Mug of Direbrew
1 Balebrew Charm
1 Kodo

I've done him 19 times and the only thing I haven't seen drop is the Ram and the Brightbrew charm- of course, the only thing I really want at this point

My hunter is now dual wielding the daggers which I think is completely awesome- fighting with broken beer bottles is now my favorite.

Each party member should turn in the quest to this guy one at a time so you'll have better chances of getting some epic trinkets or mounts. 5 times max.

You can also join a party for this guy even though you are done with the daily quest but one thing: Keep it a secret or be a tank or healer since dps are really common in many servers. It really depends if the party can allow you to join though.

Or, just fill up your inventory - then the maids can't throw stuff to you.

Just a little note. Hes daughters throw you a beer. You need to drink it before the debuff is gone. THEN you will get stunned (if you dont drink it that is)

So they dont stun you. But they can cause it if you dont drink your beer!

So bottoms up.

starting from 2008 brewfest (for me anyway...), u can drink brewfest brew during the battle to reduce coren's lvl to a max of 68 (his summons to 65), making the fight a bit easier

however ull be dead drunk, so watch out...

Compared to Ahune during the Fire Festival, this guy's a cakewalk. T6-level players should expect to down him in about a minute.

The strategy I've been using all week is to simply burn down Coren. Being a Hunter, I'll always lay down a Frost Trap to slow the adds when they try to hit the clothies. They don't deal much damage; I was able to heal the whole fight with a blues/kara-geared resto druid without ever running out of mana. The two barmaids are of little importance - drink the beer they throw, and keep dpsing. If the tank gets kegged, simply heal whoever coren goes after next until the tank can get back. He should usually be able to get aggro back quickly enough. If this strategy doesn't work, then simply bring in one dps to take care of the adds. A hunter or frost mage would be ideal to stop them from running around too much.

My biggest aggravation with this guy is he almost never drops mounts for us. We run it with just the five of us and our alts, but we've done it every day thus far and have only gotten 2 rams. We regularly get the Lucky Coin and Healing trinket, sometimes to the point where it's all we get in one night. All of us have the Bright/Banebrew charms, and three of us have remotes, so we're desperately trying to get mounts now.

I've been getting the same drop rates every day. If it isn't the coin, it's the healing trinket, and if it isn't those, it's the pipe. The dps has dropped maybe 3 times, the mounts only twice, the remote a few times, and the bale/brightbrew actually frequently, but not as much as the aforementioned trio.

they got to keep it a little easy, otherwise, people wouldnt bother with it, which would make brewfest less popular, and lets face it, brewfest is the most popular one there is, and if it loses it popularity, and people dont do it, they might just end the event overall =P

basically the whole reason of exspansions and patches, u got to keep people interested or else they wont play

actually just yesterday i 3-manned Ahune (the one for the Flame keeper achivement) and he was 72, was very easy, though we all were lvl 80 and we chose heroic mode.
so it is possible that this year Direbrew will be same level as last year.

Is anyone interested in running that quest? I have wanted a Kodo since I've first saw one and a NED on a Kodo just seems amusing.. Not many in my guild are interested in Brewfest or the Kodo, so reply here if you may wanting to run! I'll do it repeatedly if its that simple to get the guy without having to go thru whole instance

The only reason Ahune wasn't buffed from last year was due to time constraints on Blizzard's part (at least according to them). However, Ahune WILL be getting his buff next year. And as mentioned, Coren will not have the same fate.

302k HP. 3 adds that start with him have 12800 HP, adds that spawn by drill have 10800. The elite adds have 37800 hp, the drops are the trinkets that cost 25 emblems of heroism (ilevel 200) in Dalaran.
Really easy though, can be done by a tank alone, since they hit like crap.

Me paladin and my hunter friend were going to MC and went through the "brewfest room" where i saw a daily i directly picked it up, since i had never done it before i didnt know what would happend, i dont read quest texts i just rush em anyways, i turned in and he started attacking me my friend and we were a bit confused but we started attacking him, i was in Prot spec ( Solo Prot spec) i had my PvP healing gear equiped i keept aggro on him and healed through any damage he did.

When he starts spining just walk away a bit from him it stuns you, if you walk away it gives you free space to heal or damage him on range.

Basicly we 2 maned it by accident and directly after we did that my friend turned it in again so we had to fight him directly after the first fight, fun will always remmember this haha.

I hope this somehow helps.

Quick update for 2009's Brewfest then!

Coren's perhaps not as strong as he once was, the first lasting much less time than before.

Coren: 302k health
Brewmaidens: 32k health
Minions: 10k health

If the tank grabs the various adds and holds the boss, he'll be burned down in under 30 seconds and the mobs still despawn.

The 2009 Brewfest version of Coren is assumedly (never did the 2008 version) pretty much the same as the 2008 version.

As you enter BRD, there are three level 80 mobs to your right. They guard remote controls which will take you to the bar. At the bar there is Brewfest Spy who grants you the daily quest to insult Coren which in turn allows you to kill it - so one try per one person per day.

The boss himself is very easy with around 300k hp. With decent geared tank and 4 dps you can drop him in a few seconds without any need for a healer, and I'm very sure a healer and a tank can duo it with some gear. He has some adds with him, but seriously, I didn't take much notes of the fight as I just mostly sat there spamming maul and swipe until the boss himself was down.

After 12 summons (one reset + some alts helping to summon) and guildies reporting their drops I've verified Coren to drop the following:

His own versions of emblem of heroism trinkets
- Coren's Chromium Coater (Mirror of Trutth)
- Mithril Pocketwatch (Sundial of the Exiled)
- Ancient Pickled Egg (The Egg of Mortal Essence)
- Brawler's Souvenirs (Valor Medal of the First War)

Two different +170 stamina trinkets with 10 min cooldown brew maiden summons. The brew maidens last 30s and put a 60s cooldown on each other when they are used, so you can't have both up at once.
- Bubbling Brightbrew Charm (Brew maiden heals for 139 every 2s)
- Bitter Balebrew Charm (Brew maiden supposedly does damage to nearby enemies)

Apparently there are new trinkets for the Brewfest '09 version of Coren Direbrew.

The following dropped for my 3-man party tonight, one trinket per run - which is one per person, of course.

As these were the only trinket to drop - I can't confirm that any of the trinkets reported above are still available or not. The trinkets I listed above aren't even listed in Wowhead yet.

I just did this boss he drops the badges trinkets but with level 80 stats a godsend when gearing up those alts you can easily save 80 badges if your class is a hybrid

We also saw two stamina trinkets.

There may be a tank-specific trinket and a physical DPS trinket, and I would guess they're also equivalents to the Heroism trinkets, like the caster ones.

Just did this with a paladin tank rogue and Disc priest. Priest was myself in hateful deadly gear because I was to lazy to swap gear after the ganking.

He is incredibly easy.

When you start the event make sure your tank is quick to taunt.

He is ridiculously easy. We had warrior tank, shaman healer, mage, DK, and me (rogue). None of us geared in much better than welfare PVP epics and pre-heroic gear and we wailed on him... you could probably kill him without much trouble in quest greens and blues. Might as well bring 5 people so you can summon five times though. Get your trinks, save some badges, and get your mount.

Really? I don't entirely agree.. I ran it with a group that was geared, on average, for ToC-10 (at least according to Be Imba), and we pretty much facerolled our way through five fights. He only caused problems once, when our hunter pulled aggro before I managed to taunt him.

Have downed him 10 times this morning and can confirm that he drops
1. Trinkets similar to the concept of last year, i.e. the same as the emblem trinkets (so the egg of mortal essence etc etc but with different names). Tested the tanking trinket and it does NOT share a CD with the existing trinket (u can proc both at once) however have not had the chance to check the dps/healing trinkets.
2. Mounts, got the brewfest kodo (im alliance) on the first kill, didnt see it for the next 9. You can trade it to someone else after u pick it up (like all the items now) however only the first person to pick it up gets the dual achievement.
3. Shanker 2.0 - updated version of the shanker from last year.
4. Two lvl 200 tankard trinkets with 175 or so stamina and a "maiden" on use for 30s every 10 mins. The positive maiden i had a chance to test and it gave around 125 health per 2 second (does not scale with SP). Is a LOT of stam, my druid is now well over 40k hp self buffed while using both of them.

Did not see the remote however it never was that common. Am not sure that any more weapons will drop as a "drinking" boss is likley to have broken bottles but not so much other weapons (lends itself to daggers etc etc).

This year he is dropping trinkets equivalent to ones you can buy with Badges of Heroism plus the regular drops like kodo, ram and the direbrew's remote. Easily farmable by 2 80s (we did shadow priest+pally tank).

He's still relatively simple even at 80. If your DPS is strong enough and your tank tough enough to survive without heals, you can just zerg him. 3-manned it today while tanking, with 2 friends there just burning Coren down as fast as they could. It might only work for Human tanks though, since I could just Every Man for Himself out of being Barreled!, so my DPS didn't get swarmed by the adds and smooshed. Just keep rotating your tank CDs and if your DPS is strong enough, Coren will die before you do.

This guy is very easy; I'm an 80 Paladin tank with 545 def, 22.3k health, 33.5 avoidance, 10 block with 1075 blocking, and I didn't even come close to dying in my group. So you tanks that are worried about not being able to do it, don't worry, you will. Very simple fight and boss. People are posting strategy, but really, he dies too quickly for strategy to come into play.

To be honest, stam stacking is welfare tanking. A good tank will always have a proper balance rather than 35-40k hp and 40% avoidance. Believe it or not, but the 30k hp tank at 70% avoidance will have a better chance at survival then a 35khp tank at 40% avoidance in the same situations. (Numbers are fictional, made for an example).

The only time you should really start stacking stamina is when you're getting to the tip of your avoidance diminishing return.

The trinkets that Coren drops do not seem to be disenchantable, and they have no vendor price. Therefore, those farming for the mounts will end up destroying a lot of these trinkets by the end of the event. Not a huge deal, but as an enchanter, I hate to see epics go to waste...

I disagree. The 30k health, 70% avoidance tank may be statistically likelier to survive a given fight (and I'll assume, for the sake of argument, that these numbers are at all plausible... my gut instinct is that that's a ridiculous amount of avoidance to posit), but in practicality the pattern of damage that they take will be problematic; they'll take less overall, obviously, but the fact that it comes in unpredictable bursts works against you. Any game mechanic that reduces randomness tends to work in favor of the players... while I might be likelier than you to take two hits in a row, if that extra 5k health makes the difference between surviving them and dying, you are the one whose death is going to wipe the raid, not me.

And in a less extreme scenario, I would think that a healer would prefer having that extra little bit of wiggle room - an extra half-second, or second, or whatever to get heals off in a pinch - that additional health allows. Again, your tank isn't going to need healing as often as I am, but when he or she needs it, it's going to need to happen NOW.

While I understand that balance (as you mentioned) is important, the extreme end of the avoidance-is-better-for-tanking-than-stamina argument is rogue tanking... which I hear is fine if you have an 80 rogue in Molten Core or something, but tends to end a lot more messily in end-game content. Everything works out great, until they take that first hit and go splat.

No sir, I will take my damage in nice, predictable chunks that I can mitigate with armor and a large health pool, thank you.

(Fastest time was last try we blew all cds from fire ele-bloodlust-trinkets-unholy army-water ele he died in 10-12 seconds lol (we blew cds AS we insulted him so we didnt lose time))

This Fight is really easy - if you get lost in the Blackrock Mountain (your not the only one), just follow your group and you'll memorize it easily. When you get to the 'Machine Controls' One person clicks at a time. then your on the bar. You have to fight him 5 times for everyone to do the daily.

You don't have a clue mate. Avoidance stacking makes life harder for healers in the end, because incoming damage is far less predictable. And when your avoidance fails, you wipe the raid.

Go look how many high-end raiders gem for dodge instead of stamina. None. Then try actually tanking a hard fight yourself, since I doubt you have or you wouldn't be spouting such pious rubbish.

If your entire party is completely smashed when you aggro him, he'll be level 75 instead of 80. Did this today with all 5 of the party's runs and it makes the fight even more ridiculously easy.

Mobs being a lower level when you're drunk is entirely cosmetic. It changes nothing about hp, dps or abilities, not would it increase your chance to hit/crit etc.

Coren Direbrew Tacs!

-Tank: Need to keep aggro of morer than just Coren Direbrew, because othere Dark Iron Dwarfs will enter the fight. They do around 800-900 damage, and will be unlucky if you get just fewe upon your healer.

Healer: Not much to say, need to keep tank and the dps alive. Need to call for assitance, if getting attacked by the Dark Iron Dwarf there will enter the fight During the battle with Coren Direbrew.

Dps: The dps maybe need to help healer if getting overuned by the Dark Iron Dwarf there will enter the battle! But first of all... N-U-K-E!

2 -manned.
80 Dk blood and 80 priest disc.
were not really that great geared.
took a couple trys.
It's pretty easy up until the end and the adds start coming out like crazy .
Dps seems to be the main thing in this fight.
getting him down as quick as possible.
My tanking set is pretty much vendor stuff and reg toc.
3 manning this is Aloot easier then 2 manning, with the extra Dps .
my tanking dps and the healers couple dps throw outs werent cutting it , made the fight too long and it started to get anoying.
The longer your fighting the more adds start to pop.

** Once you've wiped the person who started it cannot start it again.
Don't forget ^^ so you only have 2 attempts per day :(
we got it our second attempt.

oh yeah, for anyone 2 manning this, Try wearing your PVP trinket for dispelling when the lady throws the bucket on your head, because when she does all the adds switch to the other person (healer) and will down them quick. and i was wearing a couple dps pieces and in my dps spec the whole fight (35k around there with priest stam buff ) . to up my Dps , the adds aren't hard to keep aggro on.

A note to all balance druids out there:

If you are fighting Coren, don't use starfall. Because it can aggro all the yellow level 50 people outside Coren's room. They arent hard to handle but your group might get very annoyed at you and it will scare the crap out of you. Lol
I learned this the hard way :P

He's seriously easy this time around though. I'm pretty sure he was harder in TBC, otherwise, I can't see why you even need a strategy for this boss. I usually just steamroll over him before the brewmaidens even toss the second mug.

Just a bit of side information.

You can get the Coren "summon" every day but, he will only drop "Direbrew's Dire Brew" that gets you 40 Brewfest tokens once per character (per year). So don't think of the Coren as an easy way to farm tokens.

Establish loot rules before going in concerning the mounts. There is always a ninja, so the best way is for all to Need it / them (yes, sometimes BOTH can drop at the same time).

7 mounts total dropped for me, I got none of them :(

Soloing Tips :

Only classes with strong healing & tanking capabilities will be able to attempt this fight.
Prot Pallies and Blood DKs probably have the best odds, though ferals and locks may also stand a chance. I tried him as a Blood DK, so i'll focus on that.

The mob in himself is easy, his only annoying ability is the disarm, wich will prevent you from healing as a DK. It can easily be avoided. Your heart strikes, along with your pestilences, should be enough to get rid of the basic adds.

The first difficuly comes with Isla Direbrew. On top of the damage she does, she will through Direbrew Beer at you, which you will need to drink as fast as possible. If you receive a beer while you already have one in your bags, you will be stunned for 6 seconds.

Isla Direbrew pops at around 66% health, maybe a bit more. You can either ignore her and take down the boss while chugging the bear, or kill her, though she will repop quickly afterwards. At least killing her gives you a little breathing time.

The really difficult part is when Ursula joins the party. She basically does the same thing as Isla, except that now you've got double the beers to drink, and she will blind you every so often for 8 seconds, which will kill you since you will have zero avoidance at that time. Use your faction trinket.

I imagine that as a Paladin, you can probably use your Bubble at this point and attempt to finish the boss. However as a Death Knight it's extremely difficult to survive this. I recommend using your Army of the Dead, but you might be interrupted by one of those barrels.

Use your best tanking gear, equip your pvp trinket to remove the blind effect in case you get it, use your Runetap, Vampiric Blood, Death Strike and Sacrifice wisely.

Other notes :
- I've never tried it, but it may be possible to kite Isla and Ursula somehow.
- You could be immune to blind when using anti-magic carapace, which could help you use Army of the Dead
- This is very difficult. You will die trying.

in brewfest 2008 and 2009, the trinkets always were identical to ones you could buy with lvl70 badges and lvl 80 emblems. last year you got the ilvl 200 trinkets from him.

would it be safe to say that the brewfest trinkets in 2010 will be identical to the current ilvl 245 trinkets we can buy with emblems of triumph? im really wondering how much +stam those trinkets will give=)) +250 stam perhaps?

as for the dagger. not sure.. last year it was ilvl 200, this year im guessing 232

As with patch 3.3.3, he doesn't drop the rare items anymore. You can only get the mounts and the remote from the Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest you get on the first kill of the day.
The trinkets and all the other items are still normal drops from the body.

I guess Coren Direbrew has some great changes this year of 2010.
First of all you get 2 frost emblems when you do it for the first time each day.
was my first day so i think its a dailey too gain frost emblems:)

Second the insult quests are gone, meaning you can fight him as often as you like:)

Thirth and most important, you can't find him in the BRD dungeon anymore.
you have to enter BRD by the dungeonfinder tool. i was used to finding him inside BRD. we took the whole dungeon apart, untill we found out that he was in the dungeonfinder tool.

Coren Direbrew hp is 302k and he will use in his encounter "Direbrew's disarm" which is an Aoe Disarm move he drops 1 Trinket every time u kill him ,1 quest item (only once) , 2 emblem of frost daily and 1 bag daily this bag can contain different thing till now it drooped for me emblem of frost x2 and in this bag u may get your Kodo Mount

Because of the new LFG system it is easier to get to and from Direbrew. If you're 80 just click on LFG then select the Direbrew event then when he's defeated you get a 'keg'. In it you have the chace for the mounts. One keg per day.

2010 Brewfest just started... Did the dungon finder chose Coren Direbrew and with in 5 mins I was in with 4 others. No quest needed as far as I can see... our tank went up and talked to him and then *poof* we're good to fight. We kill him about 15 or so times.... No Mount. So it was decided that Mounts came out of that barrel he may drop with the emblems in it. I also got..

-Ancient Pickled Egg.
-Brawler's Souvenir.
-Mithril Pocketwatch.
-Coren's Chromium Coaster.
-Bitter Balebrew Charm.
-Bubbling Brightbrew Charm.

no one got anything else... so if anyone knows any different... please let us know... thanks!

In order for this to show up in your dungeon finder, you must be lvl80. You can't queue up for it until lvl80 either. Just tried in a group and got a message about needing to advance to a higher level (I'm lvl75).

Has anyone looked for this in the dungeon finder on a lvl 77 character? I've just tried at 76 and it's not available.

Confirmed - the kodo mount drops from the same barrel as the emblems of frost on your first run of the day, just got it on my rogue. Any information on the ram?

Getting the direbrew remote from the bag is a bit of a pain, you get a maximum of 15 tries per character per year, and I was planning to farm it.....

Coren Direbrew is almost exactly the same this year. He has an AoE that he didn't have before.
Disappointing that he still drops the same level 200 junk that he did last year.
This fight and resulting loot has NOT been upgraded to lv 232 like Ahune.
However, the first kill (which takes literally less than 60 seconds) awards 2 frosties and a chance at one of the mounts.

Patch 3.3.5 has some great changes to this boss.

You can queue via the dungeon finding system, to this boss. (Is the remote removed?)
Click "I" and select type "Coren Direbrew" From the drop box.

First time you enter this dungeon you get XX amount of gold(I Didn't write it down, but its about 13gold), and when the boss is killed you recieve a bag with loot, containing 2x Emblem of Frosts.

The bag containing the frost emblems, is DAILY, and contains droprate for the epic mounts

You may now "spam" the boss.
Like a random dungeon, you can queue as many times as you like.
The epic trinkets will drop, but not the daily bag.

The 1st time you do this (i to queue) will give you a Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest. In that keg MAY be the mount. If it's not in there, you won't get it today.
Weapons are in the keg as well.

You also get 2 Emblems of Frost in that keg.

You also get the once a year Direbrew's Dire Brew

Every time you requeue that same day, you still have a chance to get the loot. You can do this 10000 times a day if you want, but there's still only 1 chance to get the mount.
Trinkets are all you will get if you repeatedly kill Coren in one day.

You do NOT fight 4 other ppl for the mount now.

You won't find the boss inside the regular instance, regardless of your level. Blizzard has announced that from the 2010 Midsummer Fire Festival on all holiday bosses will be available exclusively through the Dungeon Finder.

As has been stated in other posts before mine, the minimum level for the Brewfest Boss is 78.

I tried to sign up when I was lvl 77 but was unable to do so.
That wasn't a problem after I hit 78 - I could then use the LFD system and queue for Coren Direbrew :)

This is correct, but only if you did the quest that cost 600 tickets back in 2007 (search this site for "Honorary Brewer" Hand Stamp). If you did that quest, these npcs became a mount vendor permanently & you can buy both of the rams any time during any year's Brewfest. In 2008, Blizz removed the quest item for the mount vendor, added the brew of the month item in its place, changed the epic ram to be a rare drop from Coren & added the kodo to the game as well. The slow ram is still only available to people who did the 2007 quest.

Watch out with doing this on your alts..
Did it on my 5 level 80s today and then went to VoA to join a 10-man PuG with my Druid.

The runs took around 8mins in total, but apparantly (not sure if this is a bug) i got the "You have entered too many instances recently" message. So it seems that this, 5 instances an hour, is account based. Had to wait another 52mins to enter VoA, even tho i only finished 1 instance on that toon.

Has anyone else noticed that while they are fighting him that he changes levels. Yesterday he went from being a level 77 elite to a level 76 elite, while i was on my Lock. Then when i qued on my Druid he was a 79 elite.

Hey all, just so you know you can actually do the event at ANY LEVEL THAT CAN GET INTO BRD.

My guild just tested this. Here's how:

1) get 5 guildmates together. (Or PUG from the same server, so you can invite back, if you wanna spam it for each persons lower lvl alt)
2) Dungeon Q for Coren
3) The person who wants their lower lvl alt to get the event AND THE KEG SHAPED CHEST logs off and has their alt invited.
4) Kill Coren

Yes, I have a lvl 60 that now has 2 frost emblems (don't believe me look up Graeosh on Argent Dawn, you will see he has the achievement Emblematic and Dungeon and Raid Emblems, as well as Direbrewfest)

Under level 80 but don't want to wait a year for your Violet Proto-Drake?

Never fear, Orranis is here! Well, you probably should be afraid, but I'll still help you out.

Here is the fail-proof method for getting your alts a Coren Direbrew kill.

First of all, you must get at least two eighties, a healer and a tank, and preferably a DPS as well.

The second step can be done one of two ways. One, you can have a lock in your group, which will make things simpler. Two, you must have at least one part member with a remote to create a rendezvous point with the lower level party members. As most lower levels I've run so far have been DK alts, we would simply all Death Gate to Acherus, but any location that all levels can get to works.

The third step is to remove all members of the party being ran from the group. Then you must find 'filler' 80's to join the group, as many as needed to completely fill the party, and que up with them. The party member with the remote must be at the starting point before you are put in que. Note: Coren Direbrew will not spawn if you do not que for him.

The fourth step is of course, to enter the instance when the que pops instantly. As soon as everyone has entered the instance, the filler 80's will leave the group. Do not look for more party members. Invite the lower levels you are running into the party.

The fifth step is to have the party member with the remote teleport out of the dungeon, where the two lower level's will be waiting. He will then drop remote, preferably in a place where it shall provide comic relief (I.E. Dropping a mole machine on a floating rock in Outland and somehow ending up in Blackrock Depths), and the lower levels and the 80 shall use it to teleport in.

The Sixth step is to kill Coren Direbrew.

?

Profit.

It's a lot less complicated then it appears. I have so far ran five guildy's with this method (three runs), and not once found it faulty.

Note that he now drops a Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest for every player to loot. This chest can contain the commonly known brewfest drops that he always had, like the mount, but also two Emblem of Frost. This means two extra emblems each day of the brewfest, for a single, very simple boss.

Just thought I'd leave some information on drops that I have recorded over this year's Brewfest, in case anybody is interested.

Out of a total of 128 runs (that's eight characters with sixteen runs each), I have seen the following drops from the Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest: two rams, two kodos, six remotes, eight shankers and two tankards. No character who has a specific mount has seen that mount again (for example, my hunter has both mounts from last year and didn't see any mounts this year at all).

Actually, since this boss is located in a low level instance there's nothing stopping you from bringing a level 50+ to this event. The fight itself is easy enough to 4 or even 3 man. Set up a nice (guild) group and get your lowbie char some nice gear to start of with :)

I remember back in WotLK getting my level 60+ pally all the trinkets from this boss and all the rings + sword & helm from the Halloween boss. Most (if not all) items they drop are trivial to well geared chars, but nice stuff for newer chars.

*edit* I just remembered that back in WotLK this guy needed to be summoned through a quest and that lowbie chars weren't able to pick it up. I rotated my other level 80 chars in various guild/friend groups, so they wouldn't be deprived of a shot at the mounts.

Will it actually let you fight him without using the dungeon finder for it? IIRC there was a level requirement to get into the dungeon finder for Ahune (83 or 84, I can't remember) which leads me to think it would be the same for this guy.

Seems that the usual set of trinkets and weapons are going to be up this year! Assuming it's still possible to farm this a lot less people will be bothering with the TB dailies.

Will be interesting to see whether or not Tremendous Tankard O' Terror and Direbrew's Bloodied Shanker will be valid transmogrification targets come 4.3.

Ok updates : he now has 1.9 m hp , he is very easy ,just ignore adds and dps him down avoid the ground drills (not that they are lethal it just knockbacks you nothing more ), just kill him and GL with the mounts and gear drops .

In Cata he now has 1859k health points.

He is still quite an easy boss to kill, no need for any special tactics, just DPS.

Is it me or does he drop too much gold for the time it takes to queue and kill him? I mean 20g per kill when you can kill him like once per minute more or less seems too much.

Downrate all you want, but even Blizzard recognized that it was too much gold and nerfed it.

The loot kegs also drop... Tremendous Tankard O' Terror :-) I am very happy to say from personal experience.

With the guild For Great Justice bonus, looks like 26-27 jp in an empty loot bag.

Also can confirm that the level requirement is 84, and that there is no apparent ilevel requirement.

I actually had the egg drop three or four times, and the coaster only twice, while on my healer. And the coaster didn't drop at all the ten times I ran it on my hunter.

For those of you who are in a guild:

You can complete your guild's weekly Dungeon Challenge within 10 minutes by doing this. This boss also drops over 18g per kill, and it takes 1-2 minutes at most!

How to make gold off Mr. Direbrew.... If you are a tank or have a willing tank constantly requeue and nuke boss .. you get 20g + per person per loot. Takes about 2 min to kill him ..maybe faster depending. Lets say its a total 4 min with queuing and load time and that 20g x 15 four minute encounters = 300g an hour.. if you can do it in 3 then its 400g an hour... not amazing but decent.

Just a heads up for anyone wanting to find this guy. YOU HAVE TO USE DUNGEON FINDER. His name will be there. Q it up with some guildies, buddies, or random people. You can Q as many times as you want to get the trinket you're after so don't worry if you don't get it. Eventually you will. Just ran 3 of my 85's through DF and got each trinket, for each of them, in under an hour. Everyone has been pretty chill and no pressure during the rolls. I just need what I want and so does everyone else.

Takes 14 - 25 secs to kill this guy.
We had 5 DPS' and everytime it took about 16 secs + Queue time and stuff thats maybe 25 secs.
20g drop per kill = 2880g per hour.

That's nice profit imo.

Wowhead is currently wrong on the question of "can you disenchant the Direbrew trinkets (at 475 Enchanting)?".

I have tried disenchanting all the trinkets with my skill level 525 Enchanting toon and at least at the moment, runs for Maelstrom Crystals are not feasible.

It would appear that this boss can be queued ad-infinitum. Continually re-queued with the same group at least 10 times till it wouldn't let us re-queue any more. Dropped group and then queued again without any problems. At 20g a kill and epic loot (un-saleable unfortunately) it's almost better than dailies!

Brewfest 2011, Patch 4.2.2

Coren Direbrew is the level 85 World Event boss for Brewfest. He has 1859k (1.9 million) hp. The only way to kill this boss is to cue for him in the Random Dungeon Finder, which requires level 84. The first kill each day will give you a Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest, drops from this chest and the boss are listed below. Once a year, each player may pick up a Direbrew's Dire Brew (A/H) which they may turn in for 40 Brewfest Tokens.

The boss takes only a minute or so to kill with a good group. To start him, just talk to, insult, and fight him. During the fight he spawns several weak adds, including two Brewmaidens. When he casts Direbrew's Disarm, get the melee and tanks to back up 10-15 yards or so from him or he'll disarm them for a few seconds.

While the treasure chest can only be obtained once per day, the boss himself can be run endlessly through the dungeon finder: the night it came out we ran it 30-40 times in the first hour before we got bored and quit. The server which runs the boss actually began to lag and we got a few 1-2 minute loading screens into the dungeon =).

Coren Direbrew Drops:

Approximately ~~20 Gold!~~ 1-2 Gold per person.
Bitterer Balebrew Charm - "Vanity" trinket, summons a dwarf that gives you beer and does damage.
Bubblier Brightbrew Charm - "Vanity" trinket, summons a dwarf that gives you beer and heals 139 damage per 2 seconds.
Brawler's Trophy - Tanking trinket, use is Drunken Evasiveness. 20 second duration, 2 minute cooldown.
Coren's Chilled Chromium Coaster - DPS AP trinket, use is Reflection of Torment. 10 second duration, 50 second internal cooldown (after effect ends).
Mithril Stopwatch - DPS SP trinket, use is Now is the Time!. 10 second duration, 50 second internal cooldown (after effect ends).
Petrified Pickled Egg - Healing trinket, use is Essence of Life. 10 second duration, 50 second internal cooldown (after effect ends).

I ran this in a chain with a guild group for the first hour it came out. We got probably 30-40 kills or so and made around 700 gold. Our retadin got the Direbrew's Bloody Shanker from the daily treasure chest, and our boomkin got the Direbrew's Remote. We saw each of the trinkets drop twice off the boss, but nothing else. Unless we got really unlucky, only trinkets drop off him. None of the trinkets that drop are disenchantable.

Edits: Gold drops fixed =(. Added more info to the Brewmaiden trinkets.
It is possible for more than one item to drop from the chest at once, I had both the Ram and the Tankard drop at once.
Brewfest tokens are now dropping daily from the keg.

Ran him over 50 times yesterday and (to me) it seems Petrified Pickled Egg is the rarest as I got every other trinket just using greed. I saw lots of casters waiting long periods for it to drop whilst melee types get their trinkets easily and see extra ones sit on the corpse because the whole group has them.

Not sure if it's an awesome idea to do the quests that have been reset after defeating Coren this morning. This seems to me like a bug (as they are not dailies and have not been repeatable in previous years), redoing all the quests on purpose may count as exploitation.

Edit: Okay, given that all of the once-per-year quests have reset for three days in a row now, I'm joining with the crowd that says go for it. I concede the point.

They nerfed the hell out of his gold drops. Yesterday he dropped 15g-30g per player in the group, today it's only around 1g50s.

Looks like they stealth nerf'd the amount of gold you get for completing this fight.

It was around 100g total (20g per player) when Brewfest started this year (2011) and evidently they changed it sometime in the past 24 hours to around 7.5g (1.5g per player).

Can't say I didn't see this coming as you could chain-run this as a tank and make around 1.5k gold per hour.

Incredibly easy fight @85...most groups I've had waste no time. I barely set focus and the tank engages him; it's an easy burn fight, only interrupted by some knockbacks, a few adds that can be ignored, and a 4 second disarm (which seems to miss some of the time). My current record kill is 22 seconds, and will probably be lower by the time the holiday is over...most groups chain queue over and over for money or until everyone gets all the trinkets they want.

The chest can drop more than one item, I just had both a mount and a Tankard of Terror drop at once.
Both mounts are obtainable by all players, regardless of faction.

Just to say, i got both the dagger and the tankard from the SAME daily keg, so it might be possible to get more than 2 items from your first daily run's chest.

Direbrew's Dire Brew (H / A) only drops only once per Event/Year
But it seems like the quests have been resetted during the last maintenance, at least I was able to redo the quests - at least on EU Realms.

So if you have looted and finished the quest after the maintenance (Wed, 21 Sep) you can't loot it again.

Shortly after Love is in the Air 2010, Blizzard remade event bosses so that you wouldn't summon them with a daily quest. Instead you could now sign for them via special NPCs or the Dungeon Finder. Doing so would once a day reward you with a container having a chance of dropping the special loot.

As they did so, they removed any of said special loot from the loot tables of the bosses in question, so the answer to your question is no, he does not drop mounts these days.

From the 3.3.3 patch notes:

World Event Bosses

Holiday bosses (such as Ahune for the Fire Festival) will now be accessible through the Dungeon Finder.
Players must use the Dungeon Finder or speak to special holiday NPCs in the world to queue up and access these bosses.
Upon accepting a queue for any holiday boss, the party will be ported directly to the necessary area for confronting that boss.
The previous summoning criteria for these bosses have been removed. Players can queue up for and fight each World Event boss as many times as they want for any standard loot that they may drop.
All rare holiday items (such as The Horseman’s Reins) will have a chance of being found in holiday-themed loot troves which will drop once for each player in the party no more than once per day, in the same manner that doing the Random Dungeon daily quest will provide a specific reward the first time it is completed in a day.

I don't know how much I need to express this but the tank MUST hold aggro on Coren the whole time. He should not be able to run around attacking everyone like the last group I had. Being a hunter I was able to keep him away from me but it was a pain.

Been fighting Coren everyday since the beginning of Brewfest. Got the dagger once (useless for a DK), but otherwise I only received 24 JP per fight. The last two days have consisted of earning prize tokens from the keg (10-14 each time, from my experience so far), so the JP have even disappeared.

However my friend got the mount AND an item last a couple nights ago in the same keg.

Like last year, you do *NOT* have to be 84/85 to fight Coren. Anyone who could normally queue for BRD is capable, although I mean to post this to help those 78+ who would like to have the trinkets (forget the remote, mounts or weapons - this won't work for that - you can't get the Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest) waiting in the bank when they hit 85, like my rogue and pally.

Addendum, due to Sham's post below. I had one poor word choice (edited in bold above) and 1 actual mistake (also edited/adjusted in bold):

I changed 'queue' for fight, because you are correct - under-84 can't 'queue' for the boss fight. 84s &/or 85s do the actual queuing, and then 1 drops party (I would HOPE not the tank or healer!), and the under-84 is added to party & teleports in. This is the same workaround that worked for Ahune and HH, as well. Blizz may fix that - possibly as soon as Hallow's End this month (although I hope not!)

This workaround can only be used for someone who could normally enter BRD - I think the minimum is 42? 46?; if you try under that level, you will get the 'you are too low a level . . . ' - type message..

And so yes - it is only good for the trinkets - the 2 weapons, like the remote & mounts, were part of the Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest, which an under-level character can't get. That WAS my error, and thanks. But it was still a bunch of good trinket grabs for those who could get them, and I hope someone benefited.

The boss offers updated, ilvl 470 versions of the trinkets this year and you can queue at level 89. He is actually substantially harder than most heroic bosses are.

His most dangerous ability is throwing barrels onto the tank's head, then running amok through the party. The best strategy I've found to avoid this is to have ranged stay at the far end of the room and kite the boss around if needed. Perhaps the ability could be avoided by killing one of the helpers in the fight, but I have yet to find a pug that will try killing them to find out.

Update: Ursula Direbrew is throwing barrels at the person who is tanking her. She spawns when Coren is down to about 5M health, probably 30%. There is a short grace period before she begins throwing barrels, about 10-15 seconds. During this time either a pet or a dps should pick her up and begin tanking her. They will be barreled, but the fight goes much more smoothly as a result. Tanks, when Ursula comes up, move Coren and the adds away from Ursula so that the dps who is tanking her can keep aggro. Killing Ursula is not worthwhile because she immediately respawns and starts throwing barrels again after 10-15 seconds. The barrels are not otherwise avoidable.

Even more updated: When I dps this, I've started telling the tank that I'll tank Ursula so that I get barreled and asking him or her to move the boss after that starts happening.

When I tank it, I've been asking the DPS to hit her a couple of times so that neither I nor the healer gets barreled. That doesn't happen very often, unfortunately. I have been turning nameplates on so that I can see her as soon as she spawns and switching to single target aggro at about 5.5M health. As soon as she's up, I make tracks for the other end of the room and hope that one of the dps has threat on her via AoE. If the healer starts getting barreled I usually taunt back, as the Barreled tank mayhem usually goes better than no heals.

From the P.o.V. of a tank:
Unlike the years before, with our current gear we are not able to "zerg" him as we used to be, so maybe this "bug ?" has been there already for longer.

The Maiden are throwing Dark Brewmaiden's Brew onto players, yet in old times you only got a keg stuck on your head - and therefore disoriented - when you didnt get rid of that brew in your inventory in time (destroy or drink it).
To kill the 2 Maiden is actually not really an option, as just new ones will popup.

The bug now is, that the tank will get a keg on his/her head regardless if there is a Dark Brewmaiden's Brew in the inventory or not, which is pretty deadly for most DPS-classes.

Ursula is the one that does the barreled. She seems to do it on the highest aggro target first, thus continously barrelling the tank. An easy way to get around this as a tank:

As soon as she spawns, run the other side of the room. She actually doesn't move as long as she can barrel. But you'll be out of range. She'll start barrelling the ranged dps. As long as your healer is not stupid enough to stand on top of her, you are now free and clear to keep Coren on you and finish the fight.

This was a lot easier for me than trying to convince the feral druid or hunter to offtank Ursula.

After patch 5.x, you now have to be at least lv 89 to queue for Direbrew, so if you don't have MoP or Brewmaster yet you can't get it.

Usually these kinds of posts get down voted, but I'm going to be brave:

On entering the instance, we are placed at the very start of the Blackrock Depths instance. Just like a regular BD run, we had the usual crew of NPCs as well as the usual mole machine. Specially for Coren there is a second mole machine. Clicking on that will take you to the lower side room of the Grim Guzzler, which is where all the action with Coren will take place.

However, twice tonight we had impatient players. As soon as they get into the room they initiate the scripted "pre-fight" sequence. No problem except that if all the players have not already entered the Grim Guzzler then they will be locked out of the room. Stuck at the entrance to the Blackrock Depths.

At this stage, most of us have questing greens. We really need a full party, especially a healer. The first time around a few of us rage quitted and took the 30 minutes dungeon deserter penalty.

The second time I had the presence of mind to use my Direbrew's Remote. Luckily it took me to Coren's room and in the same instance as the others. For those of you also "locked out", this hopefully is of help.

Edit: Latest patch does put the party inside the Grim Guzzler. But the Direbrew's Remote is still able to function as above.

As a warrior tank, you can drop your Mocking Banner a few seconds after Ursula spawns, and direbrew should stick on you for at least 2 barrels. Generally enough time for pug dps to nearly finish him off.

Just got the melee/ranged physical dps trinket to drop, and it was won by our HEALER. Kind of a ^&*! move to queue as healer to boost your feral dps and screw up people who have been suffering through 20-30 minute queues all day long. Don't do this, please.

The culprit was Vandraven-Moon Guard.

Has anyone else had a problem repeat-a-farming the trinkets for alts this year? I know in years past, I grouped with many other players through the random queue who would queue up again and again until each of us won the trinket we were after.

This year, however, I was tanking for a few friends and after a bit I got dropped mid-transfer and noticed the message "you have entered too many instances...". The strange thing is that I had not entered any instances manually - only via the finder. Working as intended?

UPDATE: After waiting out the instance limiter and trying again, someone else in the group got it too. =\
