Nice low-level tanking sword, but the rare spawn seems to be dominated by farmers. If you can find it for cheap, then go for it, otherwise don't waste the gold on something that will be replaced in a few levels by either of the two quest reward swords from SM or RFD, or both.

Indeed this is a very nice tanking sword for its level range, in addition, if you're lucky enough to run into Ironeye the Invincible out in the flats, you can turn this thing into a good bit of money on the auction house toward your first mount.

Very useful when tanking any instances from 30-40 such as SM or even Uldaman. It procs alot and the proc (+33 Defense) is VERY VERY useful. Nice weapon. But hard to get because it is a drop from a rare spawn.

Procs every 5-10 hit, a little low imo since the duration is only 5sec. Other then that 50def is allways nice, and the pure tanking feel of it makes it unique pre 60.

I'm in a bit of a corner here.

I found this earlier on my level 36 Paladin. I'm Protection spec, and i enjoy doing AoE leveling (grouping up 4-5 mobs my level and killing them all in one go). I use Sword of Omen currently, and Vile Protector (upgrading to Aegis of the Scarlet Commander+shield spike at lvl39).

This swords +50def rating will proc quite a lot in these AoE situations, and mitigate a bit of damage. I'm wondering whether or not to sell this thing, if the mitigation is not noticable? The DPS of the weapon isn't much concern.

I bought this yesterday for my 5/5 reckoning prot pally, and over a 24 hour period of off and on use (taking breaks for sleep, life etc), this sword never procced once. I would watch the character defense screen and my buffs/debuffs and even sct for an acknowledgement for the proc and nothing ever. Can anyone else confirm or deny that this sword was broken in a patch?

Also, to clarify, this sword does not share a skin with the swords from ZF. This has more of a broad to narrow, squiggly skin, wheras those have wide split ends, like a spat.

I found walking to tanaris i soloed him at 40 with my pet... he wasnt hard but i did have to use mend pet and it took a couple minutes to take him down... the weapon drop is nice im trying to get another to duel wield.

sure, it doesn't have any rogue stats on it, but it's 1.9s, and heavy DPS

this sword can go for 100g easy on AH i farm it alot and it always sells for 100g+ no matter what the 12 year olds on trade channel say :)

It is quite good, however it is probably not worth the money as you can soon get better upgrades. But as it is one of the better looking swords too, it might as well be worth it :)

The sword dropped for me today. Im a level 34 protection paladin, so its very nice. I decided to use it rather than sell it on the AH.

Ive just gotten this weapon and it is pretty nice for a pala tanker lvl 30-33 (cuz ive killed him at thoose lvls and gotten the sword)

Anyone know if this still drops? I've killed Ironeye a dozen times since Cata and still no drop.

I just equipped this on an alt (Troll warrior) that I've had since before Cataclysm. I put Lifestealing on it because I'm leveling my warrior as Protection in dungeons using LFD. I am a tiny bit sad that it's time for an upgrade now I hit 40.

Speaking now as to finding an upgrade. It's hard to figure out what is an upgrade using present day prot warrior scales from a reliable website with value scales (ask mr robot). It's just hard to weigh in the special values.

It's just this weapon is too cool and protection-valued not to use if you happen to get it for your tanks there in the last of your mail-wearing tanking days.

ETA: If you are interested in a visual, if you check this site and mouse over the green writing (Increases Dodge Rating by 50 for 5 seconds) you will see the picture of the buff. It's green scales which will be by your other buffs.

This weapon does still drop but it's drop chance was lowered. Why are people downrating comments that have to do with ironeye and his armor? Before cata, ironeye had a lot of armor and was tough for people around his level to kill. Please don't downrate comments if you don't even know what they're talking about. Those comments were also posted in patch 1 and 2, which was before wotlk.
