This and the Armored Razzashi Raptor are the new mounts which will drop from Zul'Gurub in patch 4.1. They are replacing the old Swift Zulian Tiger and the Swift Razzashi Raptor which were drops from the old Zul'Gurub, which aren't avaible to players anymore.

EDIT : Why the downrate? The information is true.

I farmed ZG and all I got was a lousy Feat of Strength! In all seriousness, I am proud of my ZG Feats and being exalted. Only wish I could have found a mount. Maybe now I'll get one (or both >:))!

The Replacement for the Amani War Bear is the Amani Dragonhawk. Could have done better imo with the redo of Amani War Bear but it isn't the worst they could have done.

Do you want this mount? Do you want to know how many times you need to kill the boss, with a group of five people and a drop rate of 1%, to reach a 99% probability that you obtain this mount?

First of all, to obtain the mount you need to beat two odds:
1. The mount dropping
2. You winning the roll

Therefore I will calculate the following:
1. How many times you need to kill the boss to reach a 99.5% probability of the mount dropping at least once
2. How many times you need to roll to have a 99.5% probability of winning at least one roll

Why 99.5%, you ask?
The answer is simple: In the end, I have I have to multiply the two and 0.995 * 0.995 = 0.99 = 99% probability of both odds.

1. The mount dropping

I think I am right in saying that the old mounts had a drop rate of 1%? I would expect this to have the same drop rate.

A = The probability that the item will not drop after killing the boss one time (in this case 99% = 0.99)
B = Number of attempts

Y = A ^ B = The probability that the item has not dropped after B (number of) kills
(1 - Y) * 100 = The percentual probability that the item has dropped after B (number of) kills.

Made into one formula: f(B) = (1 - (A ^ B)) * 100

You first calculate the probability of the mount dropping not even a single time from the B number of kills. The only other result than failing every time, is winning at least once. So you don't calculate the probability of getting the mount on attempt #120 if B = 120, you calculate the probability that the mount has dropped at least once any time between 1-120.

There's no easy way to break this, the number of times you need to kill the boss to reach a probability of 99.5% for the mount to drop, is 528.

(1 - (0.99 ^ 528)) * 100 = 99.504113

2. Winning the roll

This is calculated in exactly the same way, but now A = 0.8 since you have a four-in-five chance of losing.

(1 - (0.8 ^ 24)) * 100 = 99.5277634

Yes, that's right, it takes 24 rolls to have a 99.5% chance of actually winning once.

3. The final result

Just like I multiply the percentages:

0.995 * 0.995 = 0.99 = 99%

I have to multiply the results from both calculations, to get the final result.

528 * 24 = 12 672

Conclusion: You need to kill the boss 12 672 times - once every day for almost 35 years - to have a 99% probability of obtaining this mount. Why such a high number, you ask? It's because the calculations assumes that you lose the roll up to 23 out of 24 times.

I cannot stress this enough: I am not saying you need to kill the boss 12 672 times to get the mount, I am saying that after 12 672, there is a 99% probability that you have gotten the mount at least once. The best way to explain it is that after 12 672 kills, there is only a 1% chance that you have never gotten this mount.

Calculate all you want. But a 1% drop chance is a 1% drop chance. It doesnt change no matter how many times you run something. I have seen the Stone Drake in Stonecore drop 3 times in a row, then didnt see it again for 2 weeks.

It probably won't be that. That's the model of the old lvl 60 unarmoured Nightsaber epic mount from vanilla. Since Blizz has been pretty good about keeping mounts unique, we'll probably be getting some sort of new skin for the Zulian Panther.

Great, I spent 1 year every reset chasing the tiger, now they add another one that I can't even farm and hope for on my own..thanks Blizz.

However...if the panther will look like it does in that picture, we have a better one on Alliance...Darnassian Nightsaber.

If they change it...well it'll still probably be a remade Darnassian Nightsaber, maybe darker shade of black and different armor.

Not to mention Alliance will soon start having the best looking cat mount in-game...the Golden King.

Zul'Gurub used to have a weekly reset. The new instance is on a daily reset, and you can even do it more than once a day using the random dungeon finder.

Even if you only do it once a day, that means 7 chances per week (rolling against 4 people), versus a single chance per week. If the drop rate of the mount is identical, this gives you a higher chance to get the mount (although it does require more time in the instance, since you need to play through it 7 times a week, instead of just one) .

MMO-Champion's screenshot is not 100% the same skin as the orignal vanilla Nightsaber ~~-(Not the same seat and the 'armor')~~

I think that the Swift Zulian Panther is going to be a mix of the Nightsaber with Zulian armor (From the Swift Zulian Tiger)

The 3-day lock was for Zul Aman, not Zul Gurub. And the Zul Aman mount had been removed from the game, so you couldn't get it at all.

Guys, why you are calcualting the chance that this mount will drop? It's RANDOM, it can drop three times in a row, it's plain LUCK, no math will help you get this mount faster. Just raid the place every chance you got...

First time in there tonight and it dropped! My boyfriend won it but was kind enough to give it to me. He doesnt care much for the mounts/pets :) I uploaded a picture and itll be posted soon! It dropped from the boss that has the room full of panthers...can't think of her name off the bat.

Not here to brag, but to inform. Dropped from High Priestess Kilnara at 4:00pm +10 GMT, to my character Cocobutter on first attempt @ ZG on the realm Dreadmaul US.

Can reaffirm that the mount has no armour unlike the "Swift Zulian Tiger" but maintains a slightly shiny black coat with a purplish hue, and a lighter underbelly, reflective of a Panther. Has standard brown-orange saddle. Please find screen-shot attached.

Dropped for me @ 4:20pm April 27th (+10 GMT) from High Priestess Kilnara.

I can confirm that the mount maintains no armour unlike it's Tiger counter-part. Instead it has a glossy coat that is bluish-black with a shade of purple, and a violet hue underbelly, typical of a panther. It has a beige riding harness. The mount is reflective of the old, unobtainable mounts that was just skin and harness.

Was upset that the mount has no armour, I hope the new Bear mount will.

I have the old tiger and looking at the screenshots (1 day after patch hits) I'm not too impressed with the new model. I'm thinking Blizz should change up the model a bit right now it looks more like a nightsaber from darnassus than a super rare cat mount. Heck I doubt a lot of allies would be able to tell the difference.

This mount is beyond ugly. It doesn't look much different than the regular nightsabers.

Glad I have the original raptor and tiger. The only reason I would roll for this mount is for the achievement.

Gandazar: I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Why? Because the roll against four other people is far from negligible.

Both the new mounts and the old mounts have/had a drop rate of 1%, the difference between the two is the following:
1. The amount of people rolling for the mount and
2. The frequency of the lockout reset.

In Old ZG you had a 1/1 chance to win the roll, but due to the reset, you could only kill the bosses 2/7 times a week.
1/1 * 2/7 = ~28.6%

In New ZG you have a 1/5 chance to win the roll, but you can kill the bosses 7/7 times a week.
1/5 * 7/7 = 20%

This is the only difference between the probabilities of obtainig an Old ZG mount, and obtaining a New ZG mount.

In a week, you will have a lower chance of obtaining the mount in New ZG, than you had in Old ZG. This because 28.6% > 20%. (I could show you some further calculations if you want, but these percentages actually are sufficient to prove my point.)

Don't forget: Most often someone else in the group will win the roll.

Being a mount collector, I was lucky enough to have this drop on my first ZG run and won it with a roll of 45.
The Swift Zulian Tiger, in my opinion looks way more awesome then this. But this is still a gem.

I am a Vanilla player. I played hard in vanilla and BC. I am a lucky owner of the original tiger from ZG. I recently took a 2 year break, but came back a few months ago due to my obsession with my tiger. Maybe every other month, I would have ZG Tiger dreams, I would think I am logging in for the first time in years, and riding around on my tiger. I could not take it anymore, these dreams haunted me, so I decided to come back to the game.

Upon my return, ZG was gone, no more mount. This was kind of sad to see it go, but made me a smile a tad more considering I have the mount. I heard about the return of ZG for 85's, and I heard about the new Panther mount, and this made me happy for a lot of people who were unfortunately not fortunate to obtain the original.

For the first time yesterday, my eyes caught someone on my server with the new Panther. I for one, have to say, Blizzard could of done a little more better, dont you think? What I mean by this is.....the new mount has no armor at all, is very plain, and honestly looks like a old lvl 40 tiger mount from alliance side, or possibly the same model of one of the frostsabers from the Winterspring quest chain for alliance.

I feel, ZG is a land mark of WoW...ZG was known by a lot of people, the ZG Tiger was like...the best mount for horde in the game , or even the best mount in general to be able to own. I have a real fetish when it comes to tiger mounts, but when I finally got to see the new one, I was very very disappointed with the look. Maybe a little head armor like the original would of made this new unique mount, seem a little more unique. I am sure a few others feel the same. This post was not to whine, or complain, it was just a post for blizzard to hopefully see, and maybe consider adding some armor for the new unique mount.

Second Zul'Gurub run, I was on a winning streak, Won 5 epic items then this 1 and 1 more in ZG off the panther run, I was a completely Lucky Ba-s-tard. The Drop Chance is slightly higher then 1% and it is the same model as the other tiger mounts with a slightly different skin, Its more like a frostsaber because it has less of a actual riding saddle then the N. elf mounts.

I got this mount on my first run through ZG. It dropped and I just looked at it, not knowing if it was rare or anything about it. I (from what I have read on this page) was extremely lucky to get it and will post a screenshot of it.

I do, however, hope that they change the aesthetics of this mount as it is rather plain and dull looking in comparison to the old mount or even the new Armored Razzashi Raptor.

Being one of the many people that tried for over 3 years to farm the original ZG tiger mount and never got it, I was quite happy when this dropped and managed to win it.

Is it as good as the zulian tiger? No. It is fairly plain looking but the mount look matches the boss it drops from rather well. The panthers in the area have no armor on. I suppose you could say the same about the tiger but to me im very much happy I finally got a saber mount on my horde toon. I doubt they will change the look of it but either way im happy regardless.

Hey all :)

Got mine today at about 2pm UK time!

Was qued in the dungeon finder for 20mins and hoped that ZG would pop up 'cause ive been getting ZA almost every go so far :P

Well anyways, ZG popped and it was a fresh run so our group toddled along, got outside kilnaras temple and the tank said " This bos is a pain can we skip?" i said "nooooooooooo! mount duh! XD"

he went yeah it dropped for my group yesterday and i didnt win it, so it wont drop again :(

Was abit disheartend but soldierd on as you do, downed kilnara when to my amazemet about 1/2 a second after seeing that god-forsaken plate drop AGAIN the panther appeared, ive got a screenie of me going OMGOMFGOMGOGMOMFG

and the tank was stunned! wish i remebered to kick up my screen recorder :/ but none the less i won the role and got outside to try it out ^^

Got to admit its my new favourite mount :D but i think it looks alittle bare ( bear anybody? ) needs somearmout me thinks :D

I've have seen Swift Zulian Panther(2nd run) and Armored Razzashi Raptor(1st run) drop in two seperate runs in two hours couldn't win both.As a mount collector i want to suicide right now.

Ran on my alt hunter tonight, been after the bow last boss but this mount just dropped and won with a roll of 85.

It's a nice mount, quite plain, or as I prefer, understated.

Run instance about 15 times so far so please to get something out of it while waiting for damn bow drop :)

such a siilly counting on chance of droping the mounts lol.. you only have a chance 0.1 on every kill.. it doesn't mean how many times you killed it... i had my baron rivendares death charger on 4 th kill on my shaman and when i was farming the baron mount for my frıend i got it on fırst farm when i got the stratholme achiv lol... baron has 0.1 chance too.. and i didint kill him for 12.000 .... times lol.. you're Wrong!

My only hope is that you are still a bit young and haven't had any statistics lessons yet,because else../sadface.

If you read up the comments above,12k is a bit inaccurate actually,it is more like 2300,but the same point stands.

PS:The above calculations take into account that 5 people are in the grp.On the other hand,baron is soloable.The magic number for that one(the times to kill it to be 0.99 sure that you would get the mount) is around 458.

I can see how this mount is really lackluster to the Alliance, but to a Horde (and a girl horde like me at that) I like the cat mounts.

But I don't want to roll a *shudder* Night Elf to get one. Or an alliance char for that matter.

I would imagine that the raptor is kind of meh to Hordies because we can get tons of raptors all over the damn place.

Cats not so much. I wish that this one had armor on it but its better than no cat mount for the Horde at all.

Its not about how mount looks cool.its about rarity.For example ; actually Celestial Steed Celestial Steed is one of the best looking mount ever in game but no one using this days.Another example ; Ashes of Al'ar its mess up your screen with tail animation but i bet people dont care that.

If they made a hippopotomus wearing a a tutu as a flying mount with sparky sequins flying everywhere behind her and upon mounting it groans with an ear piercing growl that blows out your speakers and has a .0001 percent drop rate..
Noone will care because its a terrible mount.
BEST case in point
Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger is selling for still $1000 (with the rare 630 auction from time to time)
Magic Rooster is going for $209 and the laws of the Tcg loot make these both of the same rarity.
Why? Because a Spectral tiger is stunning while a dumbass rooster makes you look like an assclown.

A guildy had this "drop" (came from the daily box) this year during valentines day. Just might as well be the rarest mount in the entire game afaik

I would like to point out that, for the players who weren't around for classic era, this mount is actually pretty awesome. It's barely different from the now-unobtainable Swift Nightsaber mount from way back when, which is used namely by the Night Elven Sentinel Huntress (Re: the patrolling elites in Darnassus, for those that don't know).

For the simple reason that there's only a slight model difference between this and an unobtainable old school mount, I am going to be farming this until I get it. Likely on a few characters, because I'm a masochist.

TL;DR As a Night Elf roleplayer, I'm farming this for the sake of having the signature Huntress mount. So that's a consideration, for those complaining about it being lackluster.

Some hours later, another ZG for the wand... the Raptor dropped but lost the roll... well, got my wand =S

But I'm happy with my panther.

*The strange is... I only saw a rare mount drop one time (Aeonaxx don't count), it was the Drake of the North Wind and I lost the roll. Today, after months, 2 rare mounts in 2 dungeons runs. lol

When winning panther The following rolls in a pug were made : The roll order and numbers : 4,2,1,3 (the irony in those rolls...) and my 45.
Rolling on Raptor : 88, 92, xxx, xxx and rolled 97. Its a great feeling when some good luck finally comes along your way even like this.Good luck getting a nice mount. Having panther as a Horde is simply awesome.

I got this the first week 4.2 was out. Can't say I've ever been that lucky. I love this mount! It looks very cool and fitting on my shadow priest. Lots of people are complaining about its lack of armor but I think it looks fine. This mount is probably liked more by Horde since Alliance already have similar model mounts

I got mine on like the 4th day of 4.0 patch, but have not seen anyone get since, though there must be someone on my server. I just have never seen another with. I didn't realize how lucky I was to win the roll. This drop rate must be way below 1%.

I just saw this drop today 8/27/2011 and won it with a roll of 83 in a random dungeon group on my holy priest, i never even knew this was a drop in this place since i was already 365 geared and was just running this for justice points, nice mount and i dont see very many people on my server with it, so i was happy anout it :)

Funny story about this mount. I ran ZG as often as I could to get the tiger OR raptor (got neither, sadly), and was very unhappy when both were removed. I played in cata for a good while, but had to stop and cancel my sub due to other obligations. I got an email from Blizz offering a 3-day free trial to test out ZG/ZA, and figured "why not?", accepted the trial, and jumped in. My very first instance of the new ZG ever, on the first or second day the instances were released, I killed the panther boss with some friends and a pug or two. This mount dropped, and I thought "How great, now my pals can get ANOTHER mount I don't have." I hit need along with everybody else, and my roll came up as a 34. Sadly for my companions, all 4 other rolls were under 20.

Blizzard- Props to you for your successful attempt at buying my subscription back with a rare and cool mount.

Needless to say, I am absolutely pleased with this mount. I have yet to see the raptor drop, and haven't seen this mount since. It gets attention on horde-side, given that it is a cat and cats are rare. The design is sleek and, honestly, I don't know if I'd rather have armor or not.

For Horde I can see how people would like it simply because it's a cat and cats are rare.

But, as Alliance IMO this mount is a shadow of the Swift Zulian Tiger. The tiger really stood out in a crowd. I don't really see this thing turning a lot of heads.

Sept 23rd - 25th, seen this drop 3 times! (My guild has seen it 4 times this weekend.)
Odd facts, all 3 winning rolls went to alts. 2 of those 3 were players who had just recently been back after 6+ months away from game. The 2nd went to a guild-mate that was leveling an alt that has taken about 4months to get to 85.
Another guild mate had this drop (& won, on an alt) in the run just prior to me seeing it the 2nd time.

Anyone else seen an increase in drop rates recently or is my guild just been lucky to see it this weekend?

Got this yesterday evening, randomly got it on a JP farm, before hand i've ran ZG around 100+ times and this is the first time seeing it dropped, i am the 10th person on my server to own this mount.

Also on a side note i got Swift White Hawkstrider within the same night maybe 1 1/2 hours after ZG, to me it seems as if they increased the drop rates of rare mounts.

I disagree with the 2300 kills... I have been in ZB for atleast 75 times and it dropped today on my alt.
The Armored Razzashi Raptor drops more often than the Zulian Panther.
Hopefully you will get it faster than 35 years, but there is a 1/5 chance (20%) of winning the item.

For me I gave up on mounts long ago because of there drop rates on every dungeon from every dungeon I have done daily from wotlk to Cata I never seen a mount drop. SO for those who manage to get one grats. For me I will never see one drop.
I know if I am complaing but its a complaint that its worthy to say.

I finally won the mount after numerous random ques and dont get me wrong I love the mount but what I dont get is why the Panther is so plain in the looks department. Blizzard said they would be replaceing the Zul'Gurub mounts with mounts of equal value and they did so with the Raptor with a new color scheme but the Panther just does not compare to the Tiger at all.. I really wish they had taken the time to put some armor on it.

I actually kind of like how clean this looks. The armor models for the armored kitties doesn't look that great to begin with. Armor on the Raptors and even Rams looks cooler.

I do like the lil face plates the armored sabers have though. Hope Blizz does something to spruce up this rare drop, but I don't think I'll mind too much if they leave it as is.

Those interested in farming for the panther mount will be happy to know that it is now possible to 2man Kilnara (by patch 4.3). We did this with a holy paladin (389 ilvl) and feral bear (375 ilvl), with this strat:

- Started the encounter with the holy paladin tanking Kilnara. Use Righteous fury ~~for a threat boost at the beginning, but turn it off soon after to avoid getting healing aggro from the cats~~ and keep it up until phase 2 starts;
- ~~In this phase keep resistance aura up to take a few shadow bolts in the face if needed, as you should have an interrupt available for Tears of blood~~; Use devotion aura - her melee hits harder than her shadow bolts. Interrupt Tears of blood.
- Druid proceeded to kill the cats, pulling one pack at a time. Beacon of light was set at the druid, and it did pretty much all healing required. ~~Next time we may try to pull more to speed it up a little bit~~; (edit: not a good idea. that stacking bleed effect is nasty)
- Obviously everybody should dodge the waves;
- When all cats were dead druid went kitty form to dps the boss up to phase 2;
- On phase 2 druid went bear to tank Kilnara in avatar form, so turn righteous fury off. Im not sure if Devotion aura stacks with some bear armor bonus, but I used it anyway. From there on it was just tank and spank, with some heavy heals required as her Rage of the ancients buff stacked. Oh, and do not use hand of sacrifce in this phase, I almost died. /facepalm
- Loot boss
- Profit

Ran Zul'Gurub roughly 90 to 100 times on different chars until 4.3 hit, never saw this or the raptor drop at all (wasn't going after them either). Keep seeing random alts riding Swift Zulian Panther, for no damn reason.
For example I was doing a Hyjal raid last night with a random rogue and a paladin, the rogue was really mediocre, had "alt" status in his guild (I have an addon which tracks that) and yet he had this panther. Or another time, I was going through Hour of Twilight and an undead mage in unsocketed unenchanted 5 man gear had this panther too. Must be pretty fun for them to get a 1% drop epic mount on a worthless alt I guess...
This is really not QQ, just a random observation. I hardly care about Swift Zulian Panther, haven't run Zul'Gurub since 4.3 at all.

Anyone else planning on soloing this boss during MoP? I'm a Demo Warlock and I've solo'd both Atrius and Slabhide with ease (Hundreds of kills, no drops yet Q_Q ) so it's not hard to imagine that this boss being a joke at levle 90. Hell if they really go through with the stat squish that they talked about then it may be possible now.

Solo farm as a Death Knight:

Enter the instance. Skip Venomancer Mauri at the entrance and run through the poison cloud to the bridge, it won't kill you. Kill any Florawing Needlers which aggroed.

Tiki Lord Mu'Loa is actually very difficult and must be killed. When you have AMS up, he does not cast his Tiki Torch ability, otherwise he will spam it nonstop dealing roughly 12-13K DPS to you which you will have to outheal or mitigate. Kings drums and/or a resist elixir will be of great use here.

There are two different ways to go from here, either cross the bridge and kill Gub for his fish barrel and a shorter path to the boss, or go the long way dealing with one more Venomancer (tank and spank) and a pack of Chosen of Hethiss (tank and spank). I choose the shorter (more difficult) path for the free fish. Gub is just a tank and spank and does nothing, or you can just run past him (he leashes off the bridge). There is one pack of Razzashi Adder which must be pulled. This pack is also rather difficult, on the pull use AMS and use damage cooldowns to kill 2-3 mobs before AMS wears off. From there burn each mob down one at a time as quickly as possible to avoid their poison stacks killing you.

Tiki Lord Zim'wae is also a tank and spank which does no damage. From here I frequently go kill Mortaxx for a free Maelstrom Crystal, he's another tank and spank, as long as you avoid aggroing too many other NPCs around him. There is one trash pack of Gurubashi Shadow Hunter and 2x Pride of Bethekk which is also tank and spank. The final trash pack of 5 mobs is best skipped using a Lesser Invisibility Potion. Should you choose to kill it, the kill order is Priest -> shadow hunter -> blood drinker -> cat. Just run away from blood drinkers whenever they start to spin until the hunter is dead.

For the boss herself: The primary damage sources occur in phase 1, from the adds and . When this spell is applied to you, is when you must AMS or use cooldowns.

Easiest way to do this is pull boss, save your interrupt for Tears of Blood, and kill one group of cats at a time. Focus them down before working on the boss. Pushing her into phase 2 with more than one group of cats alive will kill you, so avoid dpsing her below 50% before all the cats are dead. Have a focus interrupt macro to kick tears, don't kick shadow bolts, run behind her when she casts Wave of Agony, that's it. If your health has gotten low after a pack of cats or you want to wait for short cooldowns to be up, heal up off the boss by strangulating one shadow bolt cast so you can still interrupt tears, as her melee in this phase is easily mitigated with Death Strike spam.

If you are "pro" you can AMS before Lash is cast and immune it entirely, and Lash can be Dark Simmed. It is usually the first thing she casts after Tears is interrupted. It has a 4 second cooldown so you can cast it on the boss + 2 cats before the ability's usage window fades.

Phase 2 is a DPS race if you have mediocre gear, as her Rage of the Ancients stacks will eventually cause her to do quite a lot of damage, in Dragon Soul gear it's not much of a threat and the fight is essentially over once phase 2 begins. Note the Dragon Soul tank 4-piece is worthless for solo play and using the firelands 2-piece is better for P1 cat damage unless you only have the normal version.

As is the case in a lot of instances, the trash before the boss is more difficult to solo than the boss itself.

I would like to say that Mandokir and Kilnara are definitely farmable by two people (preferably tank and hybrid dps/healer). My bf and I kill them a few times every week hoping to see the mounts drop. We run prot paladin - shadow/disc priest.

On Mandokir as long as you kill Ohgan every time he spawns (stuns are great for this too if you have them), don't stand in aoe and get in a decent amount of damage between decapitates you don't need to heal the tank at all. If tank gets decapitated I use dispersion to tide me over, or pop shadow fiend/fade. You only need to last 4-5 seconds before tank can get ressed and taunt off you. It's a marathon kill because you spend a lot of time dying and ressing/self buffing as shadow piest, might be easier for melee dps.

On Kilnara, I switch to disc spec. It's pretty straight forward, tank pulls one pack of panthers at a time, dps them down, dispel her magic debuff, get out of waves, win. Pretty much just like the regular strategy for full groups, just takes longer because of lower dps.

The trash pull directly before her room is actually more difficult than the boss herself. We use mind control on a blood drinker, get it killed, then just spam heals on tank, dispel tank and mobs. Try to kill/CC the priest in that group first if you can because he gives the rest of the mobs a buff that makes them deal significantly more damage to the tank, sometimes two-shotting him if I'm not quick enough on dispels. Being a priest with offensive single target and mass dispel is extremely handy for this, but other classes should be able to figure out a strategy for this pull too.

If you're interested in obtaining this mount, and play a Hunter, the odds of you getting it are substantially higher than most other class as this encounter is solo'able for Hunters in FL/DS gear.

I can honestly say that the Swift Zulian Tiger was the first mount I ever set out to obtain in this game. It was the mount I would dream about owning and I spent so many hours inside that instance, learning to handle it and farming it each reset. However, I never obtained it. I got the Swift Razzashi raptor however, and as Alliance I feel that this was me being more lucky than I should have been if I had gotten just the tiger. Despite this, I actually felt very sad when this tiger was removed...Until I saw the Swift Zulian Panther.

I am VERY happy to see this black, unarmored cat mount back in the game and obtainable through gruesome soloing! It looks 10 times better than the tiger ever did to me since I have always liked panthers more than tigers, and the zulian tiger felt like it belonged to the troll race more than anything. This panther looks mean, it's sleek, it is amazing. And best part is that I will be able to solo this one DAILY. I am a very happy player when it comes to this panther,and sure, the Swift zulian tiger would have been a nice addition to my collection, but it would have been replaced with this one for ground use for sure, and nowadays I wouldn't have been using it at all instead of my Swift spectral.

I think it's quite sad how people expect you to be heartbroken over the removed tiger and not be able to see anything surpass it, but I can speak for myself and say that I do...and that's good, since it would've shrouded my in-game happiness whenever seeing a Swift zulian tiger otherwise.

Just killed her today as a 90 destro warlock with the voidlord tanking her. I nuked some panthers out and called the abyssal as she calls for help on the remaining panthers. AoE-ed the sh*t out of them and killed her. Not even difficult to do.

I Recently soloed the boss that drops this mount as a 472 BM hunter.

I think this is definetly the fastest method I use to solo this boss, basically blow all CDs at the beginning, and get her to 50% ASAP, and she will usually only get one or two lashes of anguish on you if you have decent dps. I specced into spirit bond so I was easily able to heal through this.

After the boss gets to 50%, when the panthers start to attack you, just feign death and they will go back to their stables (they will reset). This allows you to just dps the boss for phase 2 and for a MUCH faster kill than the other methods here on wowhead.

Be sure to time your feign death accordingly, if you get anxious and feign death too early they'll still attack you, just wait for them to actually start running over to you, then feign death, then get back up and start dpsing again.

Using this method I was able to kill kilnara in just over a minute according to DBM.
I also used a tenacity specced turtle with glyph of mend pet.

Farming this every day and opening Gub's Catch and cooking whatever is inside (which is about 20 of some Cataclysm fish), it would only take 250 days to obtain Set the Oven to Cataclysmic!

For those of you who don't know, this is the same skin as the original, PVP Vanilla version: Reins of the Nightsaber which you would receive after the hardcore grind to the PvP title of 'Grand Marshal' (Grand Marshal) or the Horde equivalent (High Warlord(?)). (This version and the titles have been long gone!)

Having played since Vanilla, it's quite refreshing seeing one of the original tiger mounts being born again. Although I must say that I actually miss the hours and hours of grinding for beautiful mounts such as this one and the Winterspring Frostsaber (Reins of the Winterspring Frostsaber). Of course there are some aspects of the game I love and hate now, but I for one believe this is such an eye turner in the midst of the ginormous, intricate and decked-out mounts present.

Been farming this every day since Mists hit. It has gotten progressively easier as gear upgraded but it was quite the stressful fight when I hit 90 and had poor gear.

I'm going in on my Prot warrior. The first mobs are very easy to skip, including the Tiki Lord. After you cross the bridge where Gub stands, you'll want to take the Snake pack to the left as they're much easier to kill than the three troll pack to the right. The next Tiki lord is easily equal, he won't even damage you if you time your Shield Barriers right.

The trash before the boss itself can be tricky, you should nuke the shadow priest first, keeping him interrupted (I use Pummel / Disrupting Shout). The two Blood Drinkers will hit hard, but you can disarm them and make the best use of Shockwave to keep them in check.

As for the boss, what I do is immediately after pulling her, pull the two panther packs to the right. Use any defensive cooldowns but Shield Wall, as you'll need it for later. Shield Barrier should -always- be up. Dps down the Panthers, minding that the boss's HP doesn't drop below 50%, as that starts phase two. Interrupt / Spell Reflect as many Shadow Bolts as you can, and save your Disrupting Shout for Tears of Blood.

After the two first panther packs are gone you're safe to DPS the boss below 50%, at which point she'll turn into a were-panther and call out the remaining panthers. Pop Shield Wall as soon as they get to you and use Recklessness and all your other cooldowns. Notice that if you kill the boss the remaining Panthers will de-spawn shortly after.

If you're geared for raids, they should be dead long before the boss goes down, and the whole process shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

If you're still poorly geared, I hope this will help you solo the boss. I have now over 90 kills and am yet to see it drop.

And in start, run to righ down in the water and swim on the edge and then run up on land and go to panther boss, you save like 1 or 2 mins this way :)

Fury warriors willing to solo this, it's very much possible, but don't expect this to go flawless in questing gear.
Like mentioned before, it becomes progressively easier once you gear up.

I prefer to skip the cauldron Priest and go left straight away, avoid pulling what I can and kill whatever I do pull before before heading into the temple.

- Save interrupts for Tears of Blood, the Shadow Bolt's damage is neglectable.
- Save your big DPS cooldowns for when reaching 50%.
- Don't use Die by the Sword before all adds are in place.

Also assure you have a Master Healing Potion ready for the sake of compensating poor timing on the latter.
Overall, nice and quick, nowadays it doesn't take me more than 10 minutes a day to complete.

Getting to her is kindof fun as a warlock with the eye of kilrog portal glyph (until they nerf it in 5.2 :( ).

Hang a left at the entrance along the rocks in front of the giant bee, then use the eye to put a portal at the end of that next walkway to skip past the pat.

Avoid the snakes and cauldron pack farther down the path by staying in the middle (or you could portal past them), then just outside the entrance to High Priestess's building, in front of the Tiki Guy, use the eye of kilrog portal trick again. Only this time, run it all the way into the building, down the stairs to the far end of the bosses room to place the portal in the back right corner by the torch. Then inch closer to the tiki lord thing, along the left wall until you're able to use the port.

On a side note, don't have a pet summoned while using the ports. It doesn't always port with you and sometimes takes a scenic route instead, bringing with it an angry mob of trash.

I've had bad luck trying to aoe the panthers because I'm destro and my aoe is meh, so I just pick them off quickly one by one while my voidwalker keeps the Priestess busy. I imagine a demo lock would be able to burn them all down with aoe pretty fast.

I usually use a healthstone midway through the fight but would probably be fine without it.

From zoning in until she's dead is around 5 minutes unless something goes wrong like I derp into some trash.

At around 100 tries for this mount so far but not giving up!

This was easily soloable on my crappy geared (ilvl 450+pvp stuff) BM Hunter. I used a (tenacity) spirit beast and one heavy windwool bandage to get some extra heals in. Just Feign Death when phase 2 starts and the cats will go away. Make sure to keep your pet alive with Mend Pet. As long as your pet doesn't die you can slowly dps her down and kill her. Good luck!

Edit: just did it without the bandage, so no worries about lvling first aid..^^

Solo'd him as a ret paladin in mop at level 90 and 490 ilvl
I downed him to 90% and bubbled his first decapitation attack then just burned him before his next decapitation, I finished the fight with 113k dps and killed him around 5 seconds before the next decapitation.

Went there for fun without any preperations with my Hunter. Here a little story how i did it.

Ride with your mount strait to the left without killing anything until you pass the named mob before Kilnara's Temple. Feign death and stealth your way to the boss with camouflage and regenerate your Health points.

I used a turtle as SV, which, i think, isnt needed at all. Spirit Bond + an occasional Mend pet is more than enough heal. Just use all your CDs for the first phase of the Boss. You can interrupt the Tear cast with Silencing shot, but again, if you stand away from the boss it isnt needed because of the pet's 90% AOE dmg reduction skill.

With ilvl 491 no panthers entered the fight in p1, so i didnt have to do anything here. If you have lower gear, just missdirect them to your pet (Glyph of Missdirection is ofc handy) and use some multi shots.

When p2 started all the panthers charged at me. I used detterence and feigned death. They went back to there corners besides 3 of them. I ignored them and just DPSed the boss. She went down easily and some seconds after the kill the remaining panthers disappeared. I think the turtle aoetanked them, but again, they only have 120 hps or so and would have been down in seconds anyway.

So easy to solo this as a hunter.

Walk in, dismiss pet, take an immediate left off the platform, cross the rocks at the waterfall... Feign death to lose aggro from the fish.

Then just use your Camo ability, hang close to the wall and away from all mobs, go past all the mobs ahead, down the path and stop outside the gate to High Priestess Kilnara's palace. I usually waited there for my Camo ability to die off, then Camo again into the palace, down the stairs inside and past all the mobs to her room.

Misdirect her to your pet. Pop a couple shots in her and mend pet. Then start killing the panthers one by one. By the time you kill them all your pet should have her at 50%. When the panthers are all dead just DPS her down.

I heard that you can just skip killing the panthers and feign death when they all come running but I didn't do it that way so I can neither confirm nor deny that.

It only took a few weeks of killing her for me to get the mount. Tough part is... Now I have to choose whether to ride the Zulian Panther or the Zulian Tiger cuz now I got 'em BOTH!

Done this as a ilvl 515 frost mage, it's so easy I wouldn't be surprised that a newly dinged 90 would be able to solo it. I put my pet on the boss proceeded to kill the panthers (a must) and downed her fairly easily, only lost 20% of my health. GL and have fun farming the mount.

It's true - this panther actually DOES drop. I didn't think it did because for four total months or so running almost every day on 3-5 characters I did not see it until today on my main Hunter. Here is a screenshot for evidence!

Edit: The Scuttler's Shell is now only usable in Pandaria.

If you are 90 and farming for this mount still then a very handy thing to have is a Scuttler's Shell. They drop from the crabs on the Timeless Isle and are usable outside the island. By using this item you can easily sneak past mobs by hugging the walls. Saves time and makes the runs less of a headache.

I have been farming this mount and the raptor on 5 chars.

All i do i just zerg down down the bosses ignoring all mechanics. With this i can confirm u DONT need to kill the panthers in order to drop the mount: " <Deadly Boss Mods> Heroic - High Priestess Kilnara down after 8 seconds! This is a new record! (Old record was 10 seconds). You have 72 total victories. "

Probability shmobability...I just got this mount after farming it every day on three 90's. Took about 45 runs in total. Same amount as it took to get Ashes of alar. Don't listen to these guys saying it will take 30 years or whatever >.> Just be glad it aint 0.04% like the old drops from Lineage! Oshugan powder crystal samples...now that's something to whinge about.

Hey guys, I just wanted to post an update as of recent.

I have heard rumors from several people on my realm regarding the discontinuation of this mount.

Regardless, I have ran Zul'Gurub religiously for over a month on both my 90 druid and rogue.

It is extremely easy if you have mediocre self-healing to just burn the boss, ignoring the panther mobs that spawn around 2000k hp of High Priestess Kilnara.

Today, on around the 60th run, the Swift Zulian Panther dropped for me.

Words cannot describe how happy I was when I saw it!

Just wanted to say, keep your heads up, try not to give up, it will eventually drop!

This, along with the Panther Cub, makes a great combo!

The mount still drops!

I was doing some world mount runs and nothing was dropping as usual, One of my guildies was telling me he was going for the two mounts in ZG so I figured Id head over there after my outlands runs. Well I went straight over to The Kitty Lady (stealthed in past all the trash as a kitty) and nuked her as a boomie. (Didnt even aggro her kitties in the pens) Pulled up the loot and all I said in vent was "what". Everyone asked what happened and so I linked them the Swift zulian panther in guild chat. Than I said, I just got that freakin mount! Scratch another mount off the bucket list:) I may not have gone in that instance a gazillion times, but I have in other ones that do drop mounts and not get jack. Its all about the RNG. My advice to you all is to do these runs for fun, dont make it a chore. I seem to get mounts to drop when I least expect them. Good luck all and have fun!

I have only recently decided to start collecting mounts, farming this and a few other dungeons for the past week or so...

The first day or so when I looked on the dungeon journal, I saw the two mounts (Armored Razzahi Raptor and Swift Zulian Panther) that can drop in Zul'Gurub, then they disappeared! Does anyone know if these have been removed recently?

fyi - the last comment as found by searodent2001 (10 days day before this post) was probably the first day I started running for these mounts.

Did this today and it dropped after the 5th run through, and the raven lord mount dropped yesterday as well.

Regardless a basis to soloing this as a fury war is easy but you gotta save your major CD'S at 50%. First pop recklessness> avatar then wait for the Panthers to start hitting, after they join in immediately hit your major AOE'S after dropping your war banner/skull. The fight after that is pretty simple since the adds can be downed in a little over 5 seconds and the boss is near dead at this point. Ps. Second wind is a must since you're invulnerable for the first half. Interrupt tears of blood and disregard the shadow bolts and you're fine.

The rotation and timing is crucial other wise you're gonna probably die. My gear might not be up to par since I stopped for a little over 2 years but it works for anyone in that range who can't shell out enough damage to just tank and spank. Hope this helps!

To make myself feel better on my daily attempts at the panther and raptor mounts I have begun announcing to my friends and guild mates after each of the 2 boss kills, that I have recieved the mount and will proceed to link a piece of armor or w/e drops.

Next, I claim I will go to Orgrimmar and ride it around so that everyone can be jealous and that I am so so happy the grind is over. By this point someone will try to help me come back to reality and let me know that the item linked is not the mount. But my delusions won't be broken by such simple logic.

So if you see me sliding around town on Mandokir's cape or Kilnara's shoulderpads, plz be kind and tell me that my mount is shiny and pretty.

I just got mine today after farming it 172 times. I did it on at least 8 characters a day (sometimes more, sometimes less, missing weekends) so rest assured, this mount WILL drop. I have had the hardest time farming this mount as I have never had to farm more than 20 times for a rare. Well worth the wait!

This mount has been by far the grindiest mount other than the horsemen reins.
I started out farming this mount and the raptor on two level 90s, once per day. The last 14 days had farmed this mount on 13 90s with a total of 327 kills. 10 minutes ago the mount dropped and I could hardly believe it as I had to do a double take before I realized I actually got the mount.

12/25/14 on 150th run, and it finally drops. Wish I could get my hands on the Swift Zulian Tiger on AH but not one of those sitting on millions of gold.

No need to run and kill anything else. Just head to the boss and DPS her. Don't get discouraged if you want it, keep running it. Nice little Xmas gift to myself.

Amazing! I incredibly obtained this mount in the very first try.

In fact, I went to Zul'Gurub in order to get the achievements and this one dropped, the other didn't though. less than 1% of drop rate, thus getting it in the first try is something really complex.

This compensates hundred of runs I've done for other mounts, it's something :)

Now at lvl 100, you 2 shot bosses and you can skip EVERYTHING. Unfortunately mounts are still very elusive. Not sure how many times I killed both bosses..Used to do 4-5 times a week at start. Now once a week.

I had my Swift Zulian Panther drop this week and was definitely a shock, I have not wracked up thousands of kills but had been actively farming the mount daily on several characters.

It just happened that I had equipped Talisman of True Treasure Tracking before running this instance. My husband laughed at the idea of it working and promised to eat his keyboard if the Panther dropped - his face sure was a picture when he saw the rarity "achievement" ping up on screen.

I also obtained Mimiron's Head whilst wearing the amulet also, so for me - its a huge hit, whether it actually works or I just got lucky with RNG we will never know. But after hundreds of runs... what is there to loose? Pick up an amulet and have a few runs.

Good luck everyone and hang on in there, grinding mounts suck! But when it finally drops, its a great satisfaction after such a long journey obtaining it - much more than that of a drop after a few kills. So keep killing and hoping.

In screenshots comparing the old model with the new one, it's kind of like aesthetically comparing a Harley with a Suzuki. Yeah they're both roadworthy; but one actually LOOKS COOL! Especially the way the Swift Zulian Tiger looks so laid back and comfortable - "It's a cushy ride."

I can understand why Blizz changed the model, and made the old one unique to harken back to a time when obtaining the original was a real feat. . . But they didn't have to make the new one suck in comparison. In my opinion (and I've heard many players say the same thing in Trade Chat and in Vent) the new mount is OK; but it's kinda bland and. . . Meh. It's worth getting if you want more mounts; but aesthetically it's nothing to write home about.

The very few people who disagree and say "the new one looks cooler", they may want to look up the story of The Fox and The Grapes. It's easy to put something down just because it makes you feel better, because you know you can never have it . . . The rest of us know the old model had REAL CLASS! And though we know we will never own one, we admire it's beauty.

Personally, I would rather that Blizz completely redesigned the mount to be as cool and unique as the original, but completely different . . . OR I would rather they decreased the drop rate of the old model and made it more rare (harder to get). Granted the drop rate was already insanely low; but it was so cool that it made trying worth it. My nephew and I used to run the old raid all the time (unfortunately it never dropped). But when looking at the new version, I just don't feel motivated to try.

And the same goes for the Armani War Bear (and Battle Bear). The colors on new model are just so bland. I own it and ride it, but whenever I'm on it it seems someone inevitable comes along on the old model, and it makes mine feel cheap - because the original was just so cool and vibrant red!
