as far as i've read on MMO, this is a mini pet and One of the drakes (south, west,east or north) is a reward for the the Glory of the cataclysm raider. Correct me if im wrong ofcourse.

Indeed, Glory of the Cataclysm Raider rewards Reins of the Drake of the East Wind
However, this is not a pet, but a mount. It's the reward for Guild Glory of the Cataclysm Raider.
Both achievements have a similar name, though the first one is character related.

There's also a pet, Dark Phoenix Hatchling, which is a reward from Guild Cataclysm Dungeon Hero.

I mean, guild NEUTRAL (we all are neutral this very moment) and to clear 3 raids without saying if they have to be heroic or anything similar... Just feels SO EASY to get it, must be a trap somewhere U__U

I believe the information for this achievement is slightly off. The Glory of the Cataclysm Raider Achievement requires all heroic modes downed and a bunch of achievements. I believe the data may not have been updated for this one though I may be wrong.

To achieve this awesome mount your guild have to first complete "Guild Glory of the Cataclysm Raider" and you have to get exalted with the guild itself, then its all yours.

Awarded from a guild achievement(Guild Glory of the Cataclysm Raider.) Run each Cataclysm 85 raid(Black wing Descent, Throne of four winds, and The bastion of twilight.) Most likely recieved as most mounts, in mail with a "thank-you/cheers!" letter, with the mount attached. But I must say, in the screen shot as shown, it looks much like a "Scourge/Twilight" version of the "Ashes of Alar". Most likely a twilight version though, because "Twilights Hammer" started Cata. Confirmed, you must have Exalted Reputation with your guild before you can achieve this.

You will require exalted. This is really really REALLY lame because f.x. my guild will likely down nefarian and get 12/12 on Tuesday-which means that we will not have access to this mount until everyone else on the server will have already gotten the achievement.

Once again Blizzard screws up the mounts..

Just wondering if you get this mount in a guild then leave will you be able to use it still? Not that you lose it but do you lose the ability to use it. I know if you get a guild page in one guild then join another you can't use it until you get the appropriate guild rep in the new guild.

yes, you do need the achievement, but you also need guild level 25 and revered guild reputation, so people wont be seeing them around for a long time.

As I could not find any definitive information about this, I will ask here. If you reach exalted with your guild and purchase this, then leave the guild, do you lose the ability to use it?

I know that a friend of mine just left our guild and joined a new one (which he is now Neutral with) and can no longer summon his Guild Page. If in fact you do lose the ability to summon it, will you regain the ability once you reach exalted with your new guild, or will that guild have to have the achievement as well?

Edit: Shadra, that is not my friend. I did not even see that post, as it was downrated and purged. Also, why was this downrated if the information I was asking about was not found anywhere else?

Ok so I've got a dark phoenix and I've copied my character to the PTR and am still able to use the spell regardless of me being guildless. On the other hand it says my guild reputation is exalted even though I'm guildless.
Edit:
Now I've just joined a guild on the PTR, my reputation went to 0/3000 neutral and I'm still able to use the dark phoenix mount because it doesn't have any restrictions for summoning whereas the pet guild page can only be summoned when at friendly reputation with the guild.
Same goes for the dark phoenix hatchling, I did not lose the ability or right to summon it even though I'm in another guild.
So as things seem now, you can still use the mount even after u leave your guild and join a new one.
Note that everything on the PTR is subjected to change and may change in a later patch, however with the most recent one as of today, the statements I've made are true.

Currently on live realms I'm able to use the mount although I'm not exalted with my guild so what i said previously is 100% working on live.

The mount look is bugged at the moment, there's no phoenix, is just the special effect that surrounds the phoenix. I created a ticket and the GM said that they didn't know about that bug and that is indeed bugged, and that is not going to be fixed in patch 4.0.6.

It looks nothing like it should in game to be honest, it looks just like a random glowy blob : / would of been better if it looks like the first picture, like a actual solid phoenix with glowy bits coming out like ashes of alar, but instead it appears as just a blob with wings,

Just got this and on the new speed info under Char tab it says "flight speed 451%" and it sure feels much faster then 310%. Need to get this confirmed by testing my 310% mounts vs this one to be sure.

You do not have to be exalted with your guild to buy this.
The requirement is that your guild must have earned the achievement: Guild Glory of the Cataclysm Raider.

No way that this is how the mount is supposed to look like! I mean, why even bother and create a unique texture, if it's going to be almost completely see-through anyway? Especially with the solid armor-pieces and all this model looks really awkward.
So for once, I think that the response of a GM (referring to knigh66's post here) actually might be correct! =)

Btw, when you land on the ground and turn around, there appears a still fire-nova effect on the ground. You can also spam A and D alternately to get a constant effect.

Well ... looking at all the other WTFery ingame, I think I can safely say that Cataclysm introduced the strangest bugs I have ever seen in a game.

I see this requires the character's guild to get glory of the cataclysm raider as well as get exalted with the guild.

What happens when a level 85 player joins a guild which has already completed glory of the cataclysm raider and then grinds exalted rep with the guild?Will he be able to purchase the mount?Or does he need to do all the hard modes?

If so,I can see the top guilds selling spots for an invite to the guild to players who want to buy this awesome mount.

I agree that this mount doesn't look like it should. It's almost like the base solid color model is missing and it's only showing the outer glowing shell of it. I also find it kinda funny that the audio file for when you mount it is the same as if you were mounting a drake. Not sure what the audio is for Ashes of Al'ar but I'd like to find out if this is supposed to be or if the audio should be different.

does anyone else think this mount looks more like a spectral phoenix than a dark phoenix? it hardly has any detail and defently doesnt look as sexy as the Ashes of Al'ar :( this mount just reminds me of the Celestial Steed mount, im very disapointed that blizzard couldnt of made more of an effort with this mount, if your somewhere very bright and sunny u can hardly see it :( and it has no pretty trails of light coming from its wings like the Tempest keep one, so very disapointed :( Netherdrakes look better than this mount

IMO, The requirement should be

having the guildachievements Including the Achievements themselves.

So you will have to have killed each raidboss to be able to buy this,

I am currently at 10/12 normal, and my guild is at 11/12 (Just waiting for the two maintanks to come online for my Cho'gall kill) I recently joined this guild I am currently in to raid, thus my reputation isnt even friendly yet, Although i have been part of their guildachievement for Al Akir and will be of theirs for Nefarian once we down him.

Even then I will still have to grind all the way to exalted.. (3500 per week : 42000 (Neutral -> Exalted), = 12 weeks/3 Months) Thats 3 months of getting the guild rep cap (shouldnt be to hard while raiding in a guildgroup downing easily 10 bosses every week. But once we start going for herocis that will go slower aswell.)

I think this is a minor flaw. and then other social members will get exalted + the mount before some raiders.

When it starts to glide it's glow dims down to almost nothing, then when it starts flapping it's wings again it brightens up.

It's a bit hard to see in the screenshot but if you have the mount and you see it happen it's a clear difference.

Also, when you turn while on the ground it makes a fire animation.

It seems to me the designers were trying to hard not to eclipse the Ashes of Al'ar. I think they went overboard in the opposite direction, Unless I zoom in really close it just looks like someone is floating on a vaguely phoenix shaped cloud of purple vapors. There is hardly a difference in the appearance of this mount if texture resolution&particle density are Low or Ultra.

That is incorrect, you can quest all by ur self, or even do guild groups, and when 4.1 comes out, you will be able to wear a tabbard that increases your guild rep. You do not need to raid in order to gain guild rep

Anyone else notice you can generate a burst of fire from the phoenix? I'm not sure what the exact mechanism is, but I've found if I'm on the ground and spam right-click on my character/mount it will do it. Pretty random.

Seems that yet again Blizzard can't actually just make it look good.

Either the changes intended for 4.2 havent been implemented yet or the Phoenix is literally...one shade darker.

I'm also going to add that there is a "good looking" version of the Dark Phoenix present in the 4.2 PTR files and the 4.1.0 live realm data files - it looks like my suggestion above with the armor it needs to be a mount. So yeah, they really can't just switch a skin apparantly, amazing.

As of the 4.2 PTR updated on 5/10, the new dark phoenix is the same one you would see in the lost city of the tol'vir with armor attached. The new one looks much much better though it is still slightly transparent. Hopefully they will let this new one stick.

Hey guys, hold onto your horses!
I've opened both the PTR WoW and the normal WoW, put them next to each other, mounted up on the same spot in both games and the mount hasn't changed a single bit, which means that the model is yet to be updated, so I'd suggest we wait until the next patch and see.
Frankly, I'm quite sure that the mount will look as it was originally intended!

the mount model has finally been updated with the new PTR patch and it looks awesome!

You can see a huge difference between the 4.1 Dark Phoenix and the 4.2 Dark Phoenix along with a huge difference between my pic and yata07's.

You can see a huge difference between the 4.1 Dark Phoenix and the 4.2 Dark Phoenix along with differences between my pic and yata07's.

The phoenix now has a physical shape instead of looking like something made out of plasma, the particles around it are much more abundant and visible, and the glow emitted is also more visible and bright.

Unfortunately Blizzard didn't address the streams that come off the wings while flying to make them look more like the Ashes of A'lar. They are still completely straight and appear as if they don't even come off the wings. I linked a photo of the Ashes of A'lar to show what I'm talking about.

These last few are of the phoenix with the bright glow effect that it gains when you scroll over or target someone on it. You can tell that the bright glow no longer overwhelms the entire phoenix and still shows the phoenix itself.

The new model looks 100x better than the old one. I figured I'd post some pictures with explanations that show the differences on the new model since I'm sure there are some people out there who want to know and see what they are.

The phoenix now has a physical shape instead of looking like it's made out of plasma, the particles around it are much more abundant and visible, and the glow emitted is more visible and bright.

Unfortunately Blizzard didn't address the streams that come off the wings while flying to make them look more like the Ashes of A'lar. They are still completely straight and appear as if they don't even come off of the wings. I linked a photo of the Ashes of A'lar to show what I'm talking about.

This may not be new but I never saw it on the old model. Maybe because it wasn't as visible. Random lightning discharges from the phoenix. I posted two pictures of the lightning because it always varies and because out of around 75 attempts they were the only ones that caught the quick discharge. lol

While I'll admit the 4.2 update looks worlds better, I was really hoping for a size increase on this mount. It's just simply too small. It doesn't look too bad on the smaller races, but for anything larger than a dwarf, it just doesn't feel adequate in terms of proportions related to the rider.

I don't know if anyone's noticed this, but when you use this mount in conjunction with Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat, your shadow will only show your mounts armour, as if you and the actual mount are invisible. I don't have the Ashes of Al'ar, so I can't test it with the other ~~Jean Grey~~ Phoenix.

I was rushing and did not read it and bought it for my alt but now i'm stuck with another one on my main.
Has anyone done the same and have luck getting their gold back?

You can buy this mount for 2400g (2100g if your guild has lvl 24) from Riha (Shattrath Guild vendor) if you are exalted with The Sha'tar.

Here's my take... perspective is I adore the Winged Guardian mount, it will always be my main.

Yes, the body could be a tad darker but whatever. Can't say I really like the rather large amount of flowing/following particles and streams. There are simply way, way too many of them. Becfause you always end u behind the mount, you can't avoid them. My main also has trailers, but way less, they don't cover almost the entire screen.

I noticed the lack of an audio cue that one has landed on the ground... I tend to use that audio cue on my main.

What nobody has mentioned is that you can NOT use this mount in Tol Barad (I would assume the Molten Front/Firelands as well)... whereas you can use other flying mounts, but only on the ground. I suspect the reason is that on the ground, this does 220% (that includes my Guild bonus)! THAT is very cool.

There are no feet, so it kinda looks like it's hovering; and while on the ground, the wings flap. Because of this, this makes a better farming mount... many is the time that the next node is too close to launch and land, this mount gets you there quicker.

That being said, the ultimate farming mount has to be the flying broom from the fall event; instant cast does it there. Dare I hope that some future update makes this an instant cast mount?

Confirmed that the wing-lines, (similar to Al'ar's) are now just as curly and spectacular, and aren't in a glitch-y straight line.

Will cost 2,700 with Guild Buff.

Has a very loud /mountspecial, that can prove quite entertaining when camping stuff. :)

I don't know, guys and gals of warcraft.
2700 isn't a lot to spend on a mount.
But just beware: It doesn't land or walk.
The contrails are a little annoying.
It's also a little transparent which kind of makes it muddy looking.
Finally, It's small. Feels like your riding one of those 25 cent ride-em machines outside the grocery market.
I know people have money to blow, but I don't.
I don't think I would recommend buying it. It's not as grand as the 3D viewer model thingie in wowhead makes it out to be.
Money well spent?

Can you buy this if only the guild has the Achieve? I don't have it but might consider spamming a guild with the achieve just to buy the mount on an alt. And do you have to stay in the guild in order to keep it?
