It has no level requirement, just an item level of 20.

Since shadowfang keep requires level 10 to enter, if you can organize it you could get this pet at level 10.

FYI .....I was in the Dalaran Sewers and the "ahem" Rat and 4 ( I assume Teenage)Turtles got eaten by Toxic Wasteling.Funny stuff to see those guys killed by the "Ooze".

He seems to disappear after some time. Maybe it's because i fed him, then didn't feed him for a lil while and his hunger became too great to live.

Can anyone actually confirm this as a 25% drop rate that is currently displayed? I have killed this guy about 40 times already and I have only seen it once.

EDIT: This is a perfectly reasonable question. I wasn't repeating anything nor was it a dumb question. No reason to be downrated. It seems that answers to this have survived so i suppose it isn't a waste, but please know WHY you downrate something instead of downrating it because it isn't what you want to know.

I did him already alot of times and saw him also once off course i didn't win the companion. Too bad blizz makes so low droprate on fun items and the droprate for this item can't be 25% it is much lower.

This dropped on my 6th run, putting the drop chance lower than 25%. Oddly enough, the mask dropped on the same run. I won the pet which brought me to my 50 pet achievement (yay!) and my brother won the mask. :)

Toxic wasteling will eat ALL critters.
Yes, including friendly critters, like the ninja turtles in Dalaran Sewers.

Edit: Funny how this got downrated, when nobody else actually clearly stated that the pet will eat even friendly creatures.

When full sized, and with a Papa Hummel's the wasteling is big enough to 'nom nom nom' a sitting Blood Elf. If only it actually did NOM player characters!

Seems to have a fairly good drop rate. I have it on two characters. Neither of which is my main pet collector. I've also seen it drop 3 times that I didn't win it, and I've only done it a dozen times or less.

I do like the little turn and pounce it does before munching some critters. Mine has also eaten Splinter and the turtles, but I'm keeping it away from Mr Bigglesworth.

Sadly, after experimenting, it looks like the Wasteling will not devour the Baby Bunnies spawned from a pair of Spring Rabbits, or the Spring Rabbit/Plump Turkey pairing

By far the most efficient of critter murdering companion pets. It just devours and devours. I heart you, you lovable little ball of toxic waste.

Edit: And after playing with it a bit.. It's a Frogger pet. You know, from Naxx? It feels like I'm Froggering these critters to death.

When i got this pet i was told when ever it gets around a critter he eats it and gets bigger leaveing no body.He olny eats the critter 3-4 times till he gets to his full size,he makes sludge noise's and gets bigger then alot of mini pets.

If you use a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4388 on a critter, and then let your pet eat it, it looks like its eating a gnome.

It does even eat rams, and the bunnies spawned at Noblegarden. So basically everything classified as "Critter".

Now I'm wondering, www.wowhead.com/?npc=34606 says "Critter", too...

My blood DK both loves and hates this pet.Its a great pet because its awesome looking has a really cool idle animation and is rare(i think 100 or so people on my server have it).Sadly, i cannot take this pet into raids and dungeons for he likes to eat my poor little bloodworms.So much for "non-combat" when he one shots my level 80 guardians.

Since the Toxic Wasteling's "kills" count toward your Critters Killed stat, this might be a good pet to have out while your guild works on Critter Kill Squad and Crittergeddon.

ok this site is geting a bout as bad as thotbott and i belive ill start useing it again if it gets any worse! all this talk about (oh mine eat this mine aet that) WHO gives A shiitt what it aet what mob drops it ? a few post say in sfk but is it trash or a boss drop? how rare of a drop is it? thats what we want to know ..and thats what this site is for ppl FFS!

should take this guy to the snake room in the old zg area if ur gonna go afk for a while, itll kill the critters for u and they respawn really FAST. great for getting ur guild the armadillo pup

Sat in ZG watching the little fellow. Every 10 seconds (pretty much exactly) he ate a critter. 6 a minute and therefore 360 an hour assuming I don't get killed while AFK or DCd through inactivity.

TBH though, a couple of minutes of AoE gives the same results.

I just found out today that my Toxic Wasteling really likes the taste of Fuzz in Breanni's shop in Dalaran... Although Fuzz is green and you cant kill him. Not sure if it counts toward the Critter achv, since we already had both.

My Guide for getting this in the "Love in the Air" event of 2011.

1st Make sure you finish the pre quests
Alliance: A goblin near in Trade Quarter starts this.
Horde: Talk to Detective Snap Snagglebolt in the vally of honor.

2. Queue up for defeating the Shadowfang Keep bosses. By talking to the Quest giver Goblin. Need to be lvl 84 at least.

3. Once you kill the bosses you receive a heart shaped package. Open it sometimes it may contain your new Oozing pet or even a Love Rocket!

Will eat a critter every 10 secs. 360/hr assuming you find an area with lots of critters close and you don't DC because you're AFK.

Glacier Penguin in Icecrown are a good start.

Took this beast on a world trip, and this is what I've seen it eat:

Cats, rats, cows, deer, fawn, rabbit, sheep, Tekton (the explosive sheep in Elwynn!), dung beetle, spiny lizard, hare, forest spiderling, long-tailed mole, adder, swine (Durotar), prairie dog, biletoad, gazelle, roach, scorpion and many other things!. If only it can eat annoying NPC's, like Topper McNabb...

Fun place to bring your new disembodied stomach: The Crazy Cat Lady in Elwynn Forest. Lots of kitties all around her house, plus a couple of tasty cows too. Won't eat the four cats inside her house though, which is probably a good thing, since she's wielding a bloodied ax.

It dropped for me today. I have ran the dungeon each day since the beginning of Love is in the Air, and today was the first time the box you get had the end had anything in it apart from the Love Tokens. My one box had the tokens, (of course), The Toxic Wasteling, a flower that goes in your hair, and a gas mask.

The wowhead page says that it has a 34% chance of dropping from Heart-Shaped Box which is defintely incorrect.
I have done the dungeon every single day since the start of Love is in the air event on 4 chars daily and have'nt yet got even a single drop. Thats nearly 40 Heart-Shaped Box opened this season so my guess is its drop rate is something like 1% or so.

Can anybody please confirm? This event is going to end tommorow and i really want this pet, atleast on my main char.

I don't think the 34% drop rate can be right. I have done the encounter 13 times this year. So far I have 3 soulbound, useless and untransmogrifiable gas masks and a bunch of love tokens (seems like about 5-10 per box) and thats it. Sigh. Tomorrow is my last attempt this year. I WANT THIS PET!

To my disappointment, I brought out my wasteling during Noblegarden because I want it to eat all the baby bunnies critter that spawned with your pet bunny mating with another player's bunny.

He doesn't eat them!

Does NOT eat battle pets.
When in a pet battle, it will also become normal size if it ate any critters, BUT it will return to its regular size depending on how many critters its eaten.

I have seen people mention using the Toxic Wasteling to contribute to the achievement Critter Kill Squad, but I have to say that when I went into the Deeprun Tram and let this little creature loose, while it eagerly ate the multitude of rats that were present, not a one counted toward this achievement. I know these rats do count as critters for this achievement, as killing them myself or using Stormchops and sitting in the Tram works just fine. The kills count toward the achievement, so it seems that only "killing them" or eating or absorbing them, whatever this little blob does, does not count toward Critter Kill Squad. I don't know if anything else the Toxic Wasteling eats counts toward the achievement, honestly, because the Tram was the only place I tried and I didn't see any rats or other critters in IF on the way there. If anyone else has any experience with the Wasteling and knows on which critters the achievement counts I'd love to hear about it, please post your results!

I stopped by the Crazy Cat Lady Donni Anthania in Elwynn Forest to see about getting a cat or two. When I came out, all the cats were gone and the oozling was the size of a small elephant.

He grows bigger once everytime he eats a critter for a maximum of three times, and his size is reset to its minimal state on map change, flight, or re-summon. It can take a few seconds for him to leap on a critter, and he seems to be more likely to act quicker if the player is moving.
