A useful trinket if you are a heavy PvP'er. It can also be nice in raids, but it's much to random. 10% means 10%. No rhyme or reason.

If you are in the habit to be in battlegrounds alot, or for some reason tend to die too much in PvE and raids, the this trinket is worth the time/ money to get.

Do note, there is no cooldown on it. Some have said that there is an hour long cooldown on it when it procs, but this is untrue. It can proc 3-4 times in a row, 5 minutes apart. Time doesnt matter.

This currently works in the arena as well, amazing for that since a death means you won't be focused on, but pretty random.

I can confirm this item still works in both Arena and Battlegrounds (meaning, it works anywhere and everywhere).

Extremely useful for most things if you can stand to lose any stat bonuses or other useful Trinkets for it.

Note that 20% of health and mana in this case means 20% of BASE health and mana, so do not be expecting to come back into the fight with much of either.

As a priest I generally come back up with enough mana for one greater heal before I'm waiting for regen. Still very useful though, since as a priest your regen should be very high.

How does this work with shamans reincarnation? If I have reincarnation up, and I die, then the trinket procs, if I choose to ressurect does it use the trinket proc or the reincarnation (ankh)?

Lol I have this on my hunter so the WTF??? Factor isn't as Grand because ppl probably think I just FD'd. But this is a great trinket in PVP because when I get DOT'ed by a Warlock and am just 1 or 2 shots from killing him I rez and Bam! I can also confirm there is no rhyme or reason to this trinket I've had it procc alot and none at all for awhile. The only thing that bugs me is if someone takes ur insignia in BG. You lose the option to rez.

This is a nice card for Pvp, ive seen it work up to 5 times in a row, the ace sucks to get though, so goodluck on making the deck.

Not many people getting the Ace these days, but for the last month or so I've been searching for "portals" first thing when I get to the auction house. I'm not sure how it happened, but someone was selling the entire deck for 39g. I'm quite happy.

This, in my opinion, is about the only darkmoon card that can be used by ALL classes usefully..

I just got for my holy pally and it works wonders when theres no lock with a soulstone to provide

The best with this trinket is that even now, after the burning crusade, it still has same value, to all classes. Still a very good trinket for pvpers. The only thing is that there are alot very nice PvP trinkets now so maybe it's not good anymore...

This works in all battlegrounds and arenas.
I just had it procc 3 times in a row while chasing the flag carrier in WSG x)

Anyway, in arenas the procc might be wasted sometimes when you die last, since you have like 1 or 2 seconds to "accept" it before the score pops up and the other team wins. IF you however manage to accept it, you will have an easy time killing the lowhealthed people who are left, cause they are standing there, typing to each other or waiting for the score to pop up xD
So a tip: When accepting this before arena ends, nuke the hell out of the healer ;D

Also to make it easier for you to accept it in time, bind this macro to a key you can press fast:
/script UseSoulstone();

This is a very useful PVP trinket but it can also be useful for recovering in instances and raids.
If you are an engineer that is*
Raid wipes, this trinket procs, you rez and equip the cables, then jump start a person with rez!

This would be pretty awesome in arena's if it worked. Sure it takes one spot which will probably be your 40 Stamina trinket, but what use it stamina when your dead :). I think i'll be using this on my paladin when i hit 70 and start doing PvP and arena's.

It is worth noting that as a priest specced into spirit of redemption, this has a 10% chance to proc when you die and revive as the spirit, and a further 10% chance to proc when you die at the end of the duration. In arenas, this is essentially a 20% chance to get people off you long enough to drink up to full and reset the match - highly useful, and well worth the gold spent on the deck.

Yup it does. Today we were up against a Druid / War 2v2.. combat log showed the warrior dying 3 times in under 1 minute. We won, although thoroughly confused for 5 minutes!

The effect takes priority over Soulstone - if you are soulstoned and it procs upon death, you will only have the option to release or use the Twisting Nether.

I play as a resto druid, and it has won us soo many matches, and my team m8 (warrior) gives me a chance to run away as soon as it procs by leading the other team away.
Overall and worth while investment.
EDIT: and yes, it does work in 2.4.1

The hardest card to get for this was the Ace.
But for me it was well worth it. As a heavy PvPer it's wonderful to just get beaten by an enemy, only to pop up and Fire Blast them :P

The strangest thing is for me it always seems to like proc'ing 3 times in a row or not at all...

But, for PvE this thing is a bit of a waste, unless you are wiping lots as a healer or tank, otherwise it's more efficient to equip damage/stat boosting trinkets.

and I've confirmed personally that it has no cooldown and is simply a random 10% chance. It does work in Arena's, but if you are the last person on your team alive, be prepared to click the Twisting Nether button as soon as you die, else you'll only have about 1.5 seconds before the score screen comes up.

This card is awesome, and your opponent will be so shocked when you come back that if he has low life you will get a kill almost every time. You also come back out of combat, meaning warriors can charge and rogues can restealth.

Still works in arenas, procced 2 times in a row for me today. (lost the match though >_< )
Even got angry whispers about me being a cheater and being reported by numerous players =P

I have no statistics about proccrates (being < 10% @ lvl70) but my guttfeeling says it proccs more seldom now than at lvl 60.

As a priest it is Possible to equip this when you Die.

I had been playing around with this one a bit and found out When you Enter Spirit of Redemption form you can change your gear, i.e. equip this trinket, but it only lasts a split second.

using an addon like Item Rack or outfitter you can automaticly put this trinket on when you gain the buff 'Spirit of Redemption' and then when you loose the form you will have a 10% chance to rez, the only drawback is you will not beable to requip your normal trinket and it overwrites soulstones.

Pretty good though and could save you in any situation you have specced for Spirit of Redemption.

Mind you we'll probably see it nerfed at some point.

What? Can anyone confirm this? The Portals Deck is definitely still in-game, and you can still get the quest - I have it in my log right now. According to WoWHead, you also can still get all of the cards in the deck (all of them have the "Dropped By" tab,) so I have no idea why it has this tag.

Awesome trinket, as it seems. I does work in 3.0.8, I have it and checked. Great for any PvPer. Its just one of those trinkets that will always be good to have, like the Blue Dragon card. :D Greatest thing is, the whole deck was just under 100g at level 80. Trust me, you'll love this trinket in Arenas.

I have died & switched to Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether while in Spirit of Redemption 140+ times, while in BG & Arena and never, ever seen it proc. I even doubt priests have 19% chance to proc it if it can't proc while u die in Spirit of Redemption.

Priest just have 10% to proc it when they die the 1st time and ZERO proc chance when they die as a Spirit of Redemption.

As a level 80 holy priest this trinket is still very useful in pve. Spirit of Redemption actually takes you OUT of combat even if the encounter is still happening, at least for the last 3-4 seconds you are in spirit form (before that you can't equip the trinket because it says you're still in combat). I've been able to equip this trinket after dieing during a raid and had it proc. It's epic to see people's reaction when you pop right up after dieing and continue healing.

Since Holy priests can benefit from this trinket without even having to equip it until after they die it makes this a very powerful and worthwhile trinket to have even at the highest levels.

I usually equip this right after I die and enter Spirit of Redemption. But since I turned 80, it seems to proc less and less. Items like deadman's hand's proc are affected by the level of player, and have a reduced chance of proccing. Could this trinket be less useful for level 80s too?

I love this thing. I don't care if people say it's not worth it, I always have it on for my Priest unless I'm in an organized raid with a Soulstone. It's just so handy.

It's only 10% but as others have mentioned, on Holy Priests this jumps up as you have two chances for it to proc. At least, that's how it DID work but I'll do testing when the fair comes up again in a month and I can get it on my new Priest.

I guess I like this because in PUG's or 5-man groups where wipe protection may not be prevalent, this can be a total lifesaver. I fondly recall a few times where I wiped with a group deep in a frustrating dungeon only to have this proc. Everyone basically flooded the chat with cheerful comments and it saved us a lot of time.

Is it amazing? Will it make the game 1000000% more fun? Will you pwn nubz with it? No, probably not. However it's a really nice little perk and it's not too hard to get these days. If you're a healing Priest, I highly reccomend it even for PVE. Especially if you PUG, as I do.

Perhaps it's a 'casual' item? =P

Absolutely hilarious for PvP but for PvE it's a bit iffy.

Arenas: Better to equip a better trinket and just kill the other team faster. If you're a human then you can take this instead of your pvp trinket without feeling too bad, but IMO use a trinket that's consistent.

BGs: I love using it for defending, just pray that the enemy doesn't loot your corpse. If you're on offense you'll probably have a longer time to rez because of all the chaos but may get owned in a random aoe.

PvE: If you're over geared for the raid then go ahead and have fun, but there are better trinkets. Besides if you are over geared you probably shouldn't be wiping or dieing all that much so *shrug*.

Also expect to get reported for 'hacking' if you rez twice rapid fire while defending something. I was defending the farm in AB, and a single mage came up and killed me. At 30% hp he tried to cap the flag, and I rezzed. I brought him down to around 10, he killed me again. I rezzed and got a crit on mind blast and defended the farm ^__^. About an hour later I got a rather amused GM asking me if I had that trinket. ^__^

I can confirm that as of patch 3.1 this trinket procs in battlegrounds. It gives you a choice of two red buttons: Release Spirit / Twisting Nether, just like a soulstone.

My guess is that since WotLK inscribers make cards to make this deck, and creatures stopped dropping cards, so maybe wowhead needs to update.. just a guess

After 25deaths and counting in dalaran at lvl80 on my mage it hasent procd 1 time il try 2 post after i hit 100 but it seems at 80 it really aint 10%

EDIT: ok after my last 25deaths droping into dalaran and no procs i switched my spot to Wintergrasp(res timer was killing me)

First test: i killed my self a total of 86 times and had to stop there.trinket only proced on deaths 6,12,24,37,51,60,69 and stop procs til 86 where i had 2 go. (7procs out of 86)

2nd test: Well i was thinking maybe blizz had added a internal CD or number of times it can proc in a set of time. so i went back to WG for a complete 100deaths and writing the times down.i ended with 20procs 4 of them were back to back. and the biggest time gap between procs i saw was 8min.

procs on deaths: 2,6,15,19,28,32,34,35,40,44,45,48,68,69,71,75,81,95,99,100.

so i guess the 10% still holds true it just pure luck and ppl dont notice it much since its always 10% not guaranteed that u will res 1s out of 10 deaths. and unless u die alot. worth the 50g to 100g for BG fun.

hey this item is a huge help like to me i do battle grounds a ton im a combat rouge and i kill a lot and i die a lot on average id say i die maybe 3 to 10 times depending what battle position i take and i think this item is usefull especilly on the later even 1 res is better than no res at al and it has cosed some wins when we thought no wins wer possible

Just grabbed it from the AH for 50g.
Still working in arena as of 3.3.3!
However, in arena, when you have died and get ressurected using this, you don't count as an alive player.
This means that if you play 2v2, you die and the trinket procs, you loose if your partner dies.
This also means that if you are the last one in your team to die, you still loose if the trinket procs.
Great for healers, being human i plan on keeping it equipped for a good while.
The proc rate does not go down at higher levels, as a level 80 i've been lucky and had it proc around 20% of the time.

Anyone know if this counts as the one combat res you can have per raid encounter? or is it separate? If it doesnt it would be useful if the entire raid used it for bosses like gorefiend in BT and vele in BWL with twink groups.

I love mine in BG's.
I remember back in wrath when I would pve all the time and have no pvp gear with the exception of my insignia. I would forgo my pve trinket in favor of this one and soul stone myself... I had it proc three times in a row plus my soulstone in WG one time... Poor Druid had no idea wtf was going on... I still use it for the lulz
