The good General appears to spawn anywhere between 12 and 16 hours.

This drops right off the general np, and its a sure 45G not a bad stop over find doing fragments of past quest

Drops of the rare spawn in Azshara, General Fangferror. Easy to kill, though you have to fight him and two other mobs.

This is a pretty solid sword for the level, and has an alright MH speed. The proc seems to happen rather often, so it adds a nice bonus to your attacks.
If you can get a Doomforged Straightedge for 49, go for it, but there usually aren't many BRD items on the AH, whereas this is easily farmable for an alt, or at least, worth the gold for someone else's alt.
Also, you could, and should, go for a Thrash Blade if you can get a run through Maraudon.

A bit of a sob story for yez.

Upon happening upon this item on WoWhead and seeing the screenshot wherein it sheathes on the back, I decide this is a must-have item for showing off on my 49 warrior twink. I'm not going to use them, but it's a hell of a unique look for when I have him afk making 500+ Netherweave Bandages.

So I park my 67 rogue alt in the temple where General Fangterror spawns. I log in every 18 hours or so and kill him. After about a week and a half, I have two of these swords.

I spend about two hours going through different glows and enchants that would look good crossed on a back. I almost went for healing power just for the sake of absurdity, but I decided on Mongoose.

So, I buy the mats and put Mongoose on both. I mail them over to my warrior and equip them to see how amazingly awesome I now look.

They sheathe on the side. 3 hours and ~1200g wasted. Don't believe the screenshot, and don't make the same mistake I made.

My rogue is mainhanding this while off-handing Hanzo Sword. A very deadly combo--both proc evenly and often, they both compliment each other in speed, damage, and looks, and you tend to get lots of questions. :)

After reading about this guy a had a sneaky plan i logged my lv 70 shammy what i never used took him to the temple and logged him out evey day i would log in and press my mackro to see if hes there after a about a mouth of doing that a ended up with 8 of the blue swords and like 20 greens when my bags are full i will sell um on ah

I still have one of these and was hoping to get a second one to level my rogue in cataclysm. Only to find out they are no longer obtainable, so now I'm stuck with one and I doubt it'll ever end up being worth something, maybe on an RP realm.

serious doubt this item is still available since the once level 50ish mob was reduced to level 13 on CATA prepatch

If you're going for appearance, here is a list of daggers and swords with that Japanese look and their respective handle colors:

Daggers:
Stealthblade Black handle: Very low random drop from Sunken Temple mobs
Assassin's Blade Blue handle, random drop primarily in regular Shadowfang Keep; also drops from pick-pocketed boxes from level 20-ish mobs
Permafrost Dagger Blue handle, random Outland world drop
Sliverblade Brownish handle: Very low random drop from Scarlet Monastery mobs
Dreadblade Brown handle, random world drop from level 40-50 quest zones/dungeons
Talongrip Dagger Brown handle; Horde quest reward from The Queen and Her Court in Stonetalon Mountains
Survivor's Blade Blue handle; Alliance quest reward from Bael'dun Rescue in Southern Barrens

Trust me if you want to go all ninja chic & you really wanted this then you now want to get your hands on Hanzo Sword.

Hanzo Sword has the black ninja-esque handle and looks better then Reforged Blade of Heroes & Assassination Blade which has mostly green handles & Reforged Blade of Heroes which has a mostly brown handle. So never fear your stealthy black hearts still have an option past 4.0.3a and that option is Hanzo Sword

On a side note Taurajo Butcher's Blade is a design match to Joonho's Mercy but it's a quest reward for the horde and you only get one (boo.)

I was going through my tons of "crap" I stored over the years in my banks throughout all alts, checking what is vendor trash and what is worth keeping/selling and I found this beauty as well. I guess I'll keep it for transmogrify or as a "relic" rather than selling it.
